Can these be used for Sushi ?

    • +1

In some SEA countries, they eats mango with rice. So why not?

      • +1

Have you tried Sushi Mango ?

        • 3 bearded triplets? Dunno. Might try it this weekend tho. :D

          • @Yummy: Here we eat muesli/oat with mango :)

            • @bcYield: Nah mate, we should try mango with vegemite spread on it.

      • Rice is cheap, yet recently tried mango rice in Thailand, and the cost somehow increased the price of the mango by at least a factor of two.
Yes, it was delicious, but not as much as just having a mango or three alone.

  • KP Mangoes

    sweetest in market?

    • +2

the most fragrant/flavour. honey gold is sweeter but lacks flavour.

Where to find a cheap tray of mangoes in Adelaide? We are still paying dollars per.

  • +2

Would LOVE a deal for NSW; paying $2 per unit is hard to swallow.

    • +4

And that’s before you get to the seed.

    • Campsie is pretty great if you can get there.

    • flemington market

    • Roadside vendors. Anywhere in Western Sydney. Even the Metro Petroleum's are doing $10 KP trays.

      • Oh yea?
I'll keep an eye out, thanks mate.
When you say that, do you mean inside the fuel station they're selling fresh fruit?
        Not a van parked outside?

  • damn thats cheap. bought a pack of 6 for $10 at woolies in sydney and i thought that was a good deal.

    • +9

"Woolies" and "Deal" can't possibly go together 😅

      • Fruit and veg at Woolies are rarely a bargain, but for other stuff, when they do 50% off specials it's hard to find it cheaper elsewhere.

        • Not hard if you go to Coles and Aldi :)

  • Cheap price! Hopefully it wasn't a blunder by the retailer!

  • Do dey deliva?

  • L that’s expensive . 2.5 $ a tray of calypso 25 mango

    Skippy's Fresh Frootz
    Victoria Point QLD

      Calypso? 🤮
While KP is best followed by Honey Gold, last time in WA (~end 2022) i found “Rosa” mangoes, those were the absolute best. Idk where to find them anymore, they weren’t around last year 😭
Taste was like KP if not better, and flesh is firm, makes it easier to serve.

      • makes it easier to serve.

        serve ???

        • Game, set and match, JV.

  • That's a great deal for the mango man. Thanks

Shows how much the supermarkets are gouging farmers

    • If you're going to use these 29c mangoes as an example, 99% of fruit stores, whether it's supermarkets or not, are gouging.

      • Are they "gouging"? Or are they simply trying to earn a living.

If you have, say, 200 mangoes to sell, maybe you'll sell 150 or 180 of them for $3 each.

But suddenly if you have 1,000 to sell… What do you do?!

        • No, I don't think it's gouging. I'm just saying that 29c mangoes are an outlier that is not representative of mango pricing outside of supermarkets. So it's ridiculous to use that as an example when comparing to supermarket pricing.

  • I feel sad for the farmers. This price is away cheaper compared to other southeast Asian countries. Consider the energy cost these days the value for picking, packing, shipping and storage is more than the price already. Is the market really terrible like this. It scares the economists if this nationally true.

its a fair price, they get free labour from internationals that are here illegally.

  • Hopefully they're better than the ones at Coles - whenever I go there they're always soft and overripe.

  • best mangoes are the late season types such as keitt or pearl however they only are in season for a few weeks in feb. KP is my go to for the rest of the season - calypso is tasteless - avoid. honey gold and R2E2 decent but not great.

  • I like this fruit shop they have great deals and good produce

  • Is this where the chemist warehouse and aldi are?

    • Ya

  • Interesting how prices like this can't be found in NQ, which is where these are grown.
Somehow, transporting them south is a negative cost and makes them cheaper, as well as helping the environment (burning diesel is good).
Even at the local roadside stalls, paying $15 a bucket.
