Looking for Air Conditioner + Installer Recommendations in Brisbane

I'm looking for any air conditioner deals or recommended reliable brands (6-7kW)

Saw Samsung 6.8kW for $400 which seems cheap but unsure on installation costs especially with summer coming up.

UPDATE 1

I was looking at this: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries 7.1KW Ciara Air Conditioner Split Reverse Cycle Set (Model Number: DXK24ZTLA-WF) for $1.9k

https://trade.bunnings.com.au/mitsubishi-heavy-industries-7-…

However, it doesn't come with a wall mount.

I'm looking to install the external outdoor unit on vertical wall of a brick unit complex on the 3rd storey which would require a wall mount. Not sure how much the installer would charge for this using their own third party wall mount and whether I should find a unit that comes with a wall mount.

The piping to connect to the indoor unit will be difficult, I am assuming need to cut through the double brick external wall or create a hole through the balcony glass door?

$400 will be the indoor unit only, add $1,540 for a 5kW outdoor unit. If you want to get a deal that may have to be Summer 2025.

Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric or Heavy Industries, Panasonic would be my goto brands. Installation you are looking roughly between 700-1000 per install these days in VIC.

    • This is the way, have a Mitsubishi currently in my loungeroom and am getting a Daikin installed as part of Energy swap, removing old gas wall heater.

Daikin do not warranty PCBs against insect damage and do not resin dip their PCBs (resin coating offers some protection from crawlies) :/

So if you get an ant infestation that blows a Daikin PCB, you are up for the $600 replacement bill …

Those that have resin coated PCBs are Mitsubishi, Fujitsu and Panasonic (that I know of)!

    • Fujitsu dropped off?

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries seems to be a popular choice. Have you tried a copilot search ?

      • What's a copilot search?

        • CoPilot, the Microsoft AI that uses ChatGPT built into Windows and Edge Browser, try pasting your question in there im sure it will guide you. It can even get price ranges and suppliers, then it can reference google review and reddit etc sources. I wonder if Ozbargain can be cited as well ;0

Right now is air conditioners are in PEAK DEMAND

Grab anyone that can do the job before Christmas

  • Mitsubishi are good.

  • +1

Get Mitsubishi electric or Mitsubishi heavy industries. Fujitsu is solid too.

  • unsure on installation costs especially with summer coming up

Install cost shouldn't matter whether summer or winter. I think it would be more about finding someone who can do it in a reasonable time frame and not "end of February".

  • where are you located? if you live in a humid area then you want dehumidifier function. otherwise basic air con would suffice

    • +2

      you want dehumidifier function

you'd need that pretty much anywhere these days.

    • Refrigerated aircon dehumidifies to maybe 30%. Evaporative coolers can reduce room temperature if relative humidity is below 40% (desert climate). Those interminable InstaChill informercials are filmed in air-conditioned shopping malls so the product appears effective due to the low relative humidity.

      Brisbane = humid

  • Mitsubishi heavy

  • you want wifi,

dont get the cheaper brands - less features, lack of options.

  • tcl cheap

  • From the comments, it seems like I should go quality if it's going to be the long term

The piping to connect to the indoor unit will be difficult, I am assuming need to cut through brick or the balcony glass door?

I'm assuming installation will be around $1k+ based on a quick search and the complexity as it sounds like it will be difficult / expensive to install on the 3rd storey adjacent to a balcony and outside the kitchen on the external vertical wall (not leaving it on the balcony as it takes up space).

Once I get a model + setup i.e. wall mounts locked in, I can price match or find cheaper. The air conditioning electricians cost slightly more, but if I buy directly from them I am assuming installation cost could be cheaper.

Very costly installation as it will require working at heights…

      • How costly is costly to get a better idea before I get some quotes and do more research?

        • You'll have to get an on-site installation quote. Have any third floor neighbours done the same thing; assuming body corp approval is applicable? Are you confident with your sizing estimate?

          • @sumyungguy: Some have but it was a while ago according to the motions passed, will be difficult to contact them as I am interstate
