  • Normally not 10% off?

    • Unsure mate. This is the 1st direct 8% off I have come across! So $920 for a $1000 Gift Card!

      • $100 and $500 cards only.

Edit: ahh, later posts provide the correct detail :-)

    • +3

Not a straight 10% off but 10% back in flybuys or rewards points at coles/woolies

      Some may prefer this

  • Can anyone confirm if this can be used on Apple Education store?

    • +3

I used apple gift cards to buy my m4 mini from edu store

    • I think you can

    • +8

It can also be used on the Apple Edu Union store https://www.apple.com/au_edu_5000447/store

    • Yes. I bought Mac mini via apple edu website using gift cards last week.

    • +1

Load the gift card balances into your Apple account I think?

      • +1

        Correct

  • +9

The discount is getting less and less from them.

I remember there was a frenzy a year or so ago at 15%, a few months ago at 10%, now it's down to 8%.
Apple gift cards were also recently removed from the the Macquarie Marketplace which offered 7% off.

But this might be the better deal as you don't need to go in store to Coles or Woolies to get the 20x points. Also minimises the potential for getting cards that've been tampered with (never had it happen to myself but others seem to have been scammed that way recently.

    • I’ve been waiting for them to go 15% off again. I doubt we’ll see 15% again as it’s been almost 2 years since it was on.
Might settle for straight 10% (if it happens).

  • Limit 1 Order Per Customer

    Nah Thanks

    • u can order multiple cards. i did just waiting on the delivery :D

  • Does this work on AOC store?

  • How to add $500? It’s only giving $20-$30 option.

    • +1

after clicking buynow, it shows a drop down box to select the value. ranging from 20 to 500.

  • +27

To confirm, the limit seems to be $1,000 in savings and not $1,000 in gift cards, as I just purchased $3,000 worth and received a $240 discount. Cards were issued within a couple of minutes.

  • I assume I can use this to pay for an AppleTV subscription?

    • +1

Yes, it can be used on all Apple subscriptions and hardware purchase from the Apple online store

      • +1

        Won’t work with AppleCare

        • Yes, not online but it can be done in the physical store.

        • I've read in other threads and Whirlpool that you can use your Apple balance for AC+ but it needs to be done in store and paid upfront for the full term (e.g. 3 years or something for iPhones).

        • +2

In physical store. You can also pay with the Apple Account Card in Apple Wallet. Which was finally made available here in Australia a few few months ago.

          • @Kyle-K: Confirmed, did it this morning with Apple account card in wallet

  • +3

Remember when apple gift cards used to be available at a 20% discount? Pepperidge farm remembers

    • +9

The current Apple Gift Card I believe has never been higher than 15% off or 15% back in points.

The previous iTunes and App Store Gift Card has had deeper discounts but could not be used to purchase hardware and accessories.

      • +2

Youre right. I was thinking about the itunes gcs

        • Still funny.

      • 15% discount in actual cash, not points https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/762500

        • I edited my post after having a proper look at all the previous Apple Gift Card deals.

    • +1

Things have changed since those days those weren't Apple Gift cards those were iTunes Gift cards. The new combined gift card system allows you to now apply that discount to hardware.

    • +2

Remember when you were able to buy a new property for 600k? Member berry member

  • Bought $500 worth even though I don't really need or want to buy any hardware for now. Guess it'll just pay for all my subs like Netflix, Apple Music and Gmail etc

Got email confirmation of order. Waiting for actual gift card.

  • This sounds like it's "safer" than buying from supermarkets?

    • -3

no, your order getting cancelled immediately and no refund

  • buying from the forums for a 10% discount and a chance of getting scammed or here for 8%?
    Where you guys stand haha

    • I used to always go for Colesworth 20x points but reading the recent threads of the cards being swapped out has scared me.

I have bought digital cards from forum members for 10% off but you'd need to check their history and if they have any existing selling threads to confirm validity.

This seems the most secure and hassle free.

    • there are reliable people here as long as you look at their history etc

  • wish i waited for this so i can use it at apple store instead of that 10% amazon GC where my phone got swapped out! now i'm trying to get a refund from amazon - what a drama/inconvenience

    • what you mean swapped out? it wasnt brand new?

      • +2

i need to share my experience on maybe forum here or on whirlpool forum but essentially gave the guy the digit code for the amazon box, opened it after and wasn't an iphone - knew i got scammed. I don't have any evidence but its either the warehouse or delivery driver that swapped it out.

when i opened it , there was some coffee pods and some beauty toner. Used to mimic small weight as if there was an iphone box inside the amazon box.
then noticed the bottom of the amazon box was cut and open at one end and the bottom amazon tape was not secured and you can easily take it off.

complained to amazon straight away and they have to do an investigation for 3 days which who knows what they would do.
but last amazon rep told me to return the wrong items back to amazon for a refund so im just waiting on that so i can buy a phone from amazon and hopefully it has a legit phone in the amazon box!

and guess what i told them to block IMEI number so person whoever stole it phone can be blocked but amazon doesn't store the IMEI number.
Its only on the physical box …. well hello i didn't even get the phone in the first place so technically anyone (warehouse or driver) can switch an iphone out on someones order

        drama

        • Oh wow, you'd think it's probably the driver as the boxes are packed by robots and there must be cameras everywhere in their warehouses.

          • @slx: yeah thats what wifey thinks too, even the front door security camera showed he looked nervous.
alas i didn't pick up the initial signs of being scammed as i was just looking forward to the new phone , imagine my feeling 1 minute after getting the dodgy box grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

          • @slx: And to add, I recently bought an iPhone from Amazon, the delivery driver had to ask for the digital code so they'd know it's something valuable inside which explains why they might have the motive to swap it out. Also I had to check the iPhone packaging very carefully to make sure it's not tampered with as I didn't want to open it since it's a Christmas gift, cause even if you receive an iPhone box, it could have been swapped out with only a brick inside (happened to a friend who purchased on Gumtree). Another watch-out to add to a long list of possible iPhone/Apple related scams.

            • @slx: Damm even if you get an iphone box check it out too? because it would be securely packaged in plastic but yes i'll have to watch that out.
would the driver even be willing to allow this? all they care is the digit code and then they run off so id want to ask and film it and check everything before i give the code just in case

        • +1

Next time (if you give them a next time) check the box before receipt and film the unboxing.

          • @FrugalNotStingy: will have too, i did those 10% GC cards to buy the iphone from amazon specifically so just waiting on refund and then going for round 2..

  • Can I use this gift card to buy Applecare+?
    Has anyome experienced?

    Thanks

    • I believe you can, but only in store. You'll need to go in and present the actual card (can't use saved) but it's been a long time since I did this so it may have changed.

    • Only in an Apple Store - not online.

You can either take the unactivated gift card into an Apple Store and pay with that, or if you're running the latest version of iOS, in the Wallet app you can add your Apple Account Balance as a card there, and use it in store via Apple Pay if you redeem the gift card into your account.

      • +1

The Apple Account Card can be loaded on the last major release of iOS as well. Anything after iOS 17.6.

    • Thank you everyone for the kind information.

  • +3

Just got 4 x cards and successfully ordered iPhone 16 for pickup today. Thanks OP.

  • I remember iTunes. Classic.

    • im old school - whats being used now if itunes is gone then?

      • It was split into separate Music, Podcasts, TV and Books apps on Macs in 2019 and Windows in 2024.

      • Subscribtions, apps, hardware, ATO debit (that last one is a joke, don't be scammed).

  • +2

OP, you're amazing. I didn't want to faff around with colesworth points so didn't buy. THIS is cash in my wallet, so loving it!
Thank you very much for the post.

I used it on the education site from here. I encourage all our users to use this link for best bang for buck.

The cards were delivered almost instantly.

    • Did you get the order confirmed email or the email containing the actual digital codes?

I ordered more than an hour ago and still waiting.

      • +1

You get an email to activate the cards where it asks you for your email address. Once activated you get another email with the actual gift card. Happens within minutes.

      • Hope you're still not waiting. You should action the first email that comes through. They'll then send in the codes in a 2nd email.

        • Just got email that order has been cancelled. Now I have $460 worth of funds being held up.

Won't be ordering from them again unless it's like 10 or 15% off.

  • if I use gift cards to pay for an iphone from Applestore.. can i still claim GST back on TRS (Tourist Refund Scheme)?

    • It is a purchase, so don't see why not

    • +2

I think as long as these conditions are met from this link, doesn't matter how you paid. People have gotten TRS from the JB-HI fi phone deals (where they essentially give you a gift card to redeem free/subsidize phones from 2 year plan)

    • +3

The invoice for an order paid entirely with Apple Account balance says nothing about gift cards on it; in fact it says credit card for some reason.

  • +3

Bought $3k just fine - all delivered within seconds and added to my Apple account successfully. Thanks OP.

Much prefer this than the coles/woolies points.

    • Damn everyone is getting their gift cards instantly and I'm still waiting for mine :(

      • Have you checked your spam/category folders?

      • That means your order will be cancelled. This lot a notorious for cancelling orders due to so called security concerns (whatever that means). Look at past sales posted on ozbargain and you will see the number of people who have had their orders rejected.

        • Either that or email incorrect or payment didnt go through (declined).. id call them to check.

I got my 4 gift cards within 1 minute of ordering

          • @Gavman: So I called them and they said they had to verify my details. Confirmed my name and address and card number and they said they’ll pass to admin team to process.

The only difference from past purchase is I used Apple Pay this time. Previously I used a credit card and went through the Mastercard validation.

So lesson learnt here is don’t use Apple Pay.

            • @zzzman: Same with me last time I ordered. And they still cancelled the order.

Good luck - I hope your order goes through, but I have my doubts.

              • @howdy: Just received email that purchase has been cancelled FFS

            • @zzzman: yep Ccard all the way

  • one per customer?? so you can't order like 2k of gift cards?

    • +1

its 1 order per customer, but you can add many giftcards in 1 order
just keep adding to cart before checkout

      • +1

o nice so you can order many just as long as its the one order. nice.!! thank you!!

    • i just bought 3 x $500 + 1 x $300 gift cards ($1800 total) in the 1 transaction, discount worked no issues ($144 off).. got the gift cards in like 1 minute after paying

  • Can I use Apple Gift Card to pay for battery replacement?

    • Yes

    • +1

pretty much Apple gift cards are apple "currency" you can buy anything from apple in there stores, online digital app stores like the app store and apple tv content etc, there services, etc.

  • When does the voucher come through after confirmation, been waiting 1 hour and nothing.. Not comforting after spending $920..

    • Same here. Did you use Apple Pay / Google Pay or did you enter your card details and went through Visa/Mastercard validation?

I used Apple Pay at 9.30am and still haven't received anything. I called them and they wanted to verify details.

      • Can you share the number you called them on?

          • @zzzman: Thanks mate. I've been waiting since ordering in the morning. Have emailed them but no response. I paid with CC & verified too but no cards delivered yet.

          • +1

@zzzman: Have you received your gift cards? I spoke with the CC person and they said they cant guarantee I will receive the cards even after verification. But asked me to call back or make a new purchase at FULL Value!

            • @kronosxmate: Nope still haven't received anything

If I don't get the card, I just want a full refund.

            • @kronosxmate: Just received email that purchase has been cancelled, and amount charge hasn't been refunded.

Should I even bother putting in another order.

      • Yeah Apple Pay

  • how to buy $500 worth of gift card? don't tell me I need to buy 10x $50 ?
