Dirt cheap price on these SATA 2.5" to USB transparent enclosures for new AliExpress users. These are suitable for making 2.5" HDDs and SSDs into portable storage. On the listing there's multiple cable types including USB Micro-B, USB-A to USB-C, USB-C to USB-C and the option of getting a USB-A to USB-C adapter.

The prices for each will vary between US$1.31, US$1.34 and US$1.36 depending on which enclosure you get.

AU$ based on current Mastercard rate, GST inclusive and stacks with cashback.

For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate depending on the card.

  • Speaking as a complete noob - Is using these more reliable than a portable hard drive?

    • +1

Well for starters you can more easily/quickly replace a dead drive with a new one (and have the ability to pick the best drive you use for it), unlike gambling with unknown drive specs when buying a bundled portable hard drive.
Not to mention you can swap drives out once the first one is full- think of it as an extended USB port / large SD card reader xd

    • It’s handy if you’ve got any 2.5” hard drives/ssds, such as from an old laptop, or from AliExpress deals (I have a few). It’s also useful if your laptop dies, to reuse/recover from its’ drive.

    Take me home country road.

    Any deals on PATA drives?

When that will be, IDE know.

    • No it's not. Still shows up incognito as that price for a new user.

I get You've reached the purchase limit

I’ve bought a couple of these before, but not from this store. Perhaps it’s a coded message meaning it’s out of stock, or no more stock at that price (US$2.95-3.45). Instead I bought this one https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005946461929.html for US$2.59
        Obviously I’m not a new user 😔

  • do you get $1.02 tax to pay?

  • Didn't show out of stock, but no button to buy or add to the cart.
Got this one instead for US$1.60 ($2.51) incl GST with free delivery.
