That is very interesting about no reclining seats. Yes, it is annoying when someone reclines, but for an overnight or a long flight, everyone reclines to try and get more comfortable.
Maybe they have seen all the social media clips of Americans fighting in planes when other passengers recline and want to avoid that happening.Re, the water situation. Flights to Australia often will not allow bottles of water due to some ridiculous security thing, but flights from Australia are fine. Just make sure the bottle is in your bag when you board so the gate staff don't tell you to get rid of it.
I've flown this, and it's fine. It's tight, on every metric, but once your realise you're paying $20/hour for a service shuttling you to Coron or Boracay … I think it's a tempting proposition.
This is good price, but comes with a catch. More than 400 eco seats cramping and it always full. New A330-900 aircraft like a express bus
Also, as above mentioned, no water allowed, buy to drink and no recline seats.
Just did this flight and yes you buy everything but it’s pretty cheap. Got a bottle of water, soft drink and some cookies for about $5. Meals were around the $10 mark.
Seats don’t recline - they play an announcement that they’re already in a reclined position (can’t confirm but didn’t find them too uncomfortable).
Additional Australian security in Manila will not let you on board with water (didn’t seem to be a Cebu restriction).
Could you take water on board leaving from Australia to Manila though?
Yes for Aus to Manila, at least from Melb where i have flown, but in Manila though they have the second security screening at the gate for any Aus. and US bound flights, bit of extra security theater for us, they also do a secondary check there to verify visas etc so it can be tedious. Same on all airlines though AFAIK to US and Aus. Laughably I saw a couple older teens go through the second security screening for a PAL flight, into the the waiting area, duck out under the security barrier and fill there water bottles then duck back into the waiting area under the "security" barrier :)
I like the seats not reclining !
If comfort is a concern - do not fly budget airlines. period.
On the reclining seats - I actually like that seats do not recline. I have flown scoot where the person in front of me took up about 1/4 of my space, and I was then also forced to recline but could not use the tray table. This meant less usable space for me. I prefer fixed seating over someone stealing space.
On the water issue - When leaving SYD, I always take an empty large pump water bottle, if its empty it usually passes customs. Once you make it past customs there are many filtered water stations around where you can fill it. If customs insist on taking it, or you forget, you are looking at ~$5 to buy water at the airport or plane. Yes, expensive for water, but when you consider that a return in Qantas economy is ~$1200 on sale, its a small price to pay in the grand scheme of things.
Great price, just be ready - this is not a fun flight.
Like all low cost it's pay all the way. No water is allowed to be taken with you on board (I think is a security thing) but they don't provide water either! You have to buy if you want to drink.
Also the seats don't recline, they're "pre-reclined" (legit what they told me when I asked where the button was!
