Looking for TV replacement ($300-$700)

Hi All,

This is my first forum post.
Our TV just died (it was a 32" bravia) and it could not have happened at a worse time (xmas means the TV becomes a free babysitter for our nieces and nephews)

So what is the best I can I get for $300 - $700 between today or in a week?

What matters:
  • size,
  • resolution,
  • viewing angles,
  • colour/contrast/clarity
What doesn't matter
  • no need for heaps of ports - we'd be happy with a single hdmi input+ standard audio out/3.5m jack.
  • no need for great software/tuner - I will never ever use the built in - most likely will just plug in apple tv and leave it at that.
What would be nice
  • good industrial design would be nice but again its the panel that matters most, not the software and not the ports

I would be fine going with most things 32"-46" 50/55 is way too big to not be an eyesore in our living room.

Worth noting we live in Brisbane near the CBD

    • IS jbhifi really the best value vendor for this kind of thing ?

      any other recommendations ?

      • dick smith is probably the best place to look

  • have a look at this one. cheap for a decent size and good brand

    • Thanks, the sony one it is replacing died only just outside of its warranty however. i'm a little more sceptical of that brand now

  • Pick one with a long warranty most brands seem to try and make there products last the warranty +/-50% so if you get one with a 12 month warranty you would be lucky to get 18 months out of it
