Free Shipping with $9.99 Spend (Normally $7.99/$0 with $48 Spend) Melano CC Essence 20ml $12.85 Delivered @ Beauty Amora

670

Beauty Amora has reduced their minimum spend for free shipping from $48 to $9.95 for 3 days only, which means you can just buy one or two products to get free delivery. They often have very decent prices, if not cheapest prices for Korean and Japanese beauty products for a store with an Australian warehouse - but it's always better to compare prices for the individual products you are after. Orders typically arrive in a week for me in Sydney.

They have the popular Rohto Melano CC Intensive Anti-Spot Essence 20ml for $12.85 at the moment. This product has pure L-ascorbic acid as well as Vit E in a unique packaging that lets out one drop at a time, preventing oxidation. Pure LAA Is notoriously difficult to keep stable without requiring refrigeration, this product seems to not change colour for many months. It's in a propanediol base (not water), which feels a bit oily on application but seems to go away.

There are too many specials to list, but here are a few popular products at decent prices that caught my eye:

    • Just curious what your experience / use of the serum was and if it was suitable for shorter hair as well

    • Nice! I'm using the rich version of that serum - need it for my dry hair

  • Good for sheet masks (Biocollagen Real Deep)

  • Fakuha snail juice for blemishes also on sale

Great deal, thank you! You always have informative write ups too.
Any other recommendations for vitamin C or dark spot fading (I have sensitive, dry skin and use tretinoin)? And recs for low level rosacea / red cheek flushing?
I'm trying to branch out from The Ordinary and Paula's Choice.

  • I know this is a broad question but any recommendations on men's products to get for someone who wants to improve their skin? I apply moisturizer every night atm.

    • +4

easiest way to improve your skin is to wear sunscreen every day when going out and reapplying every 2 hours, which prevents aging from uv, prevents skin cancer, and reduces scarring and hyperpigmentation

      • yes ty, I do that also

      • It needs to be as thick and as oily as possible for it to work on the skin

        • sus

        • I use LRP and I can tell you that I use a lot (go through a 50ml bottle every 3-4 weeks) but it's never thick or oily on my combo skin. Sunscreens sold in Australia have come a long way

    • +1

Sure. Do you have any skin concerns (e.g. fine lines, pores, irritation, hyperpigmentation)? Does your skin ever feel tight and dry, or oily?

      • yeah pigmentation and scars. It feels dry only after the shower. And small ass pimples/scars which aren't really pimples but also don't go away

        • +2

Ok. Firstly, men can use any skin care product. It's more important to target your skin type and concerns than opt for mens product packaging.

          Basic kit with minimum steps:

          • Gentle non-stripping cleanser e.g. CosRX low pH cleanser - can be used morning/night
          • Face sunscreen for day time e.g. Hamilton everyday face - this can be your one step moisturiser + sunscreen if your skin is not dry.
          • Night moisturiser with retinol e.g. Neutrogena Visible Repair Regenerating Cream 50g - follow instructions and introduce slowly, as retinol may cause irritation initially (often half price, just wait a bit). Retinol increases cell turnover, helps unclog pores, even out skin tone. Not just for anti-aging

If you are willing to add an extra step in the routine, I would recommend the Vit C product in the deal title as it is good for scars/hyperpigmentation. I suggest adding that in the morning, between cleansing and face sunscreen

          • @moocher: You're a legend, I have many questions but thank you!

Will these expire? I will order 2 of Vit C and Low PH cleansers if they don't.

yes I've heard retinol is good for your skin, I will wait for a discount.

Will you use the cleanser wash your face and apply vitamin C to sleep? When do you use retinol

            • +3

@DrDan: Yes they do expire, but more than that, I suggest just buying one of each first, in case they don't agree with your skin. Beauty Amora products usually will have a sticker with the expiry date on them, usually a year or two out from purchase date unless it's a clearance product

yes I've heard retinol is good for your skin, I will wait for a discount.

Yup, the reason I suggested that night cream is because it saves you time instead of a separate retinol serum then a moisturiser

              Suggested AM routine:

              • CosRX low pH cleanser
              • Melano CC essence (3-4 drops)
              • Face sunscreen

              PM routine:

              • CosRX low pH cleanser
              • Neutrogena Visible Repair Regenerating Cream

Edit: Feel free to send me a private message if you have more questions and prefer not to ask publicly.

              • @moocher: What would you suggest for somebody who just has normal skin? Mine isn't dry (doesn't flake) nor oily, and not really a combo. It's just normal - if that's a thing?

At the moment my morning routine is literally just putting on CeraVe Facial Moisturising Lotion (I can't recall if the version I have, has sunscreen in it as I threw it out this morning).

Would your suggestion above work for someone with fairly normal skin? If so, with the morning routine, would I still use the Hamilton everyday face (which is the moisturiser + sunscreen) if I'm using the Melano CC essence prior?

Also - could the Seoul Ceuticals (mentioned below) work on somebody with my skin type? I've had a quick look and while it seems interesting, I'm kind of hesitant due to the comment noting it's best for bright clear skin (of which I'd say, my skin is clear but not bright).

My main annoyance is I have dark circles below my eyes, but unfortunately it's hereditary. I did try eye products to reduce the dark circles like 10+ years ago, but didn't have much luck. A quick glance on Beauty Aroma, shows COSRX Advanced Snail Peptide Eye Cream which looks interesting - any suggestions regarding this?

                Thanking you in advance!

@eltito: Yes, normal skin (not oily or dry) is a thing, and a good thing!

Would your suggestion above work for someone with fairly normal skin?

Yes it would work. It's a basic routine that combines retinol/Vit A and Vit C which is good for skin health. Unless you're a teenager in which case it's a bit of an overkill :)

If so, with the morning routine, would I still use the Hamilton everyday face (which is the moisturiser + sunscreen) if I'm using the Melano CC essence prior?

Yes definitely. The Melano CC is liquidy, and sunscreen is a must.

could the Seoul Ceuticals (mentioned below) work on somebody with my skin type?

No experience of this brand, and it's not mentioned much in skincare subs unlike other Korean brands. If you have Melano CC I suggested, you are already covered for Vit C. Melano CC has the more stable packaging and will be gentler.

Hereditary dark circles are difficult to treat just using skin care alone, but a good eye product may still help a little. I would recommend trying the 2024 version of this top-selling Korean eye cream AHC premier ampoule in eye cream core lifting.

So far I have tried to suggest a minimal routine so that it's not overwhelming to execute. One extra ingredient to look out for is Niacinamide/Vit B3, which is in a lot of Korean moisturisers and some western moisturisers. The ABC's are your best ingredients: Vit A (retinoids), Vit B3 (niacinamide), Vit C.

              • +1

                @moocher: ty just ordered!

  • skin Ceuticals Vit C with Ferulic acid is the best for bright clear skin but very expensive so the Koreans have a similar one called Seoul Ceuticals and is more affordable and way cheaper. Some say it is a poor imitation others say it works wonders.
I also use the Ordinary Nicinamide with Zinc and their caffein for under eye.

Never tried Skinceuticals because of the high price point. Seoul Ceuticals seems to be a US company. If looking for a Korean high concentration pure Vit C product, I'd go with a well-known brand like CosRX - they have a 23% Vit C serum, water based and needs refrigeration. The other well-known Korean one is Tiam Vita C Source that has been around for many years and has 20% LAA (not stocked by Beauty Amora)

I would not recommend such high concentrations for Vit C beginners though - it can be really irritating at first. Something around 10% is a good start.
