Thinking of Selling My Consoles & Need Pricing Advice

Hi all,

I'm in the process of selling my Series X, PS5 and Switch, due to using my PC daily instead and was wondering how much you guys reckon I should list them for?

Each console is in great nick for being the age that they are, however the Series X and PS5 both have storage attached (PS5 with a 2TB NVME and the Series X with a proprietary Seagate 2TB expansion card).

Here is a list of when each console was bought:

  • Series X (2021)
  • Fat PS5 (2023)
  • Non-OLED Switch with better battery (2019)

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Have a look at CEX for their buying and selling, marketplace you could also find what others have listed.

Doesnt mean it will sell at that price though..
    .

    • Just had a look at CEX pricing. For all 3 plus the Seagate expansion card, I'd get just over a grand. Any good?

So much less hassle than every other option.

Your consoles are pretty old and out of warranty, the scarcity factor is also gone, someone said to look at cex pricing, however they are super expensive and way over priced for 2nd hand items.

Your best bet is to look at ebay imo for pricing or maybe gumtree. Also maybe take the black friday pricing and halve that to get an estimate.

    (cex trade in value + (black Friday pricing / 2) + avg(gumtree) + avg(fb marketplace)) / 4

Look at eBay, but don't forget to filter for completed/sold items.

  • You'll get more value if you sell the drives separately if you can be bothered.

    • Series X (2021) ~ $400
    • Fat PS5 (2023) ~ $400-450
    • Non-OLED Switch with better battery (2019) ~$200-250

I used to sell my old devices on eBay but since postage, scams and buyers fees went up I moved to Gumtree where I'd sell for cash on the spot only.

So I'd check the lowest price on Gumtree and make it $5 cheaper to move my items quickly, &/or weigh up that up against the price offered by Cex.

Cex has usually won for me in recent years as I'm prepared to take a 10~20% sale price hit to not have to deal with the general public.

At first I was worried the items I sent in would be graded differently to what my own thoughts were but there haven't been any of the gotchas I feared.

$1000~$1100 sold privately or $850~$950 on Cex sounds about right (maybe some more in it depending on extra controllers/games etc).

PS5 is regularly on dicount for about $600. So I would say about $350-400 if you have box , tax invoice etc.
Switch is usually on discount about $350 and also 5 yrs old. Probably $150.

    • I have picked up a few v2 Switches for $150, it's rare at that price and usually has something that needs repair. Most are listed for $200-250.

  • Hack the Switch then sell it with software for $350-$400.
