Prescription Sunglasses with Progressive Multi Focal Lenses

Has anyone bought prescription progressive/multi focal sunglasses online before?

Looking for December 2024 recommendations for tried and tested online places that do great quality progressive/multi focal lense sunglasses for a a good price.

Want to be able to claim health fund rebate.

Just don't know how it would work with the measurements.

  • Has anyone bought prescription progressive/multi focal sunglasses online before?

    No, only instore…

It is very important to get the focal point measured correctly.

    • I just find in-store lense colour matching rather limited. They end up looking cheap.

      • Tried different stores?

        • tried L&P last time…never again. Are you able to suggest anyone?

          • @angywoo: OPSM, Bupa.

            • @Mechz: L&P are part of the OPSM group. Would they have a different range?

              • @angywoo: Honestly didn't know L&P still existed. Try Bupa or some independent shops.

  • nope mostly in-store. there's different quality grades of it and its better to test it out in person

  • Vision Direct, always get my glasses from here with prescription that I can claimed back on Medibank extras ($225 on my policy).

  • Do you get single vision lenses or are they multi/progressive?

I have been looking at vision direct.

    • Mine is single, but they can do progressive as well.

  • I have multi-focal/progressive sunglasses. Got them at Specsavers. Not a great choice in frames - next time I might try some online sources. Problem is that you can't get wraparounds in store.

I primarily went into store so that they could get fitted properly. I have an Asian style nose (no/high bridge) so they always slip down my nose and it takes me a few attempts to get them to fit properly. Sometimes I have to go back in store to have them adjusted - which is the advantage of an instore approach.

I might even try getting blank frames and seeing if Specsavers could get lenses for them. I'm still a proponent of doing this in person for fitting purposes.

If you do find a decent online place, please post back here and let us know.
