    Thanks OP. Bought the s1

Missus' friend lend us the S1. Never skipped a beat.

The built-in battery last a very long time and super handy for keeping you a bit mobile around the house.

used breast pumps……mmmmmm……or wait I meant hmmmmm?

Don't you know, pump it up
You got to pump it up

  • +4

Can also pickup secondhand in FB marketplace. They’re designed so you can buy new parts to avoid any contamination, but the pump itself is easily resold and reusable between users

Can also pickup secondhand in FB marketplace

      😲

    • Agreed it’s just prices vary greatly and sometimes not a huge difference.

Key things for new buyers if buying used

      • Check motor hours if planning on using for a while try not to get one with heavy usage on hours
      • See age if less than 2 years old may have warranty if you can get a copy of the receipt for added piece of mind
      • if you get the pump itself you’ll need flanges, tubing, valves, backflow protectors and sometimes different flange sizes depending on use case. these can easily add up so just make sure it’s worth it over spending alittle more getting a new one with 2 years warranty and new pump parts.
      • Yes, fully agree with all this. Do your research and see if you can grab a bargain for a quality pump on FB marketplace.

        • I couldn't even sell mine $100 less than new with only a few hours & 1 month use and warranty - with extra stuff.
So can definitely get a bargain through marketplace

Also make sure it was actually owned by a woman.

    • I was unable to sell a second hand unit on marketplace or gumtree this year in WA, it kept getting delisted.

I had to go to Ebay where after 3 delisted items, you have to state on the item that it has been serialized and then it was allowed to be sold.

      • Yeah I’ve heard FB marketplace doesn’t like them being listed, yet when I search for Spectra there are 15+ in Sydney. Some listings have changed the word slightly but still plenty available

  • Why does the brand have the letter C extra large.

Pump p-p-pump p-p-pump it up! - Joe Budden

  • Decent product but shocking customer service and warranty. No contact number on their website.

    • Yes a lot of people have had the AC adapter fail and the warranty for that is only 6 months, even though it renders the device useless, and people have had a lot of trouble getting them to honour their ACL obligations

    • Yeah can't speak for their warranty support as haven't raised anything. But they do have a phone number on their website https://spectra-baby.com.au/pages/contact may not have been there in the past maybe

  • Anyone had luck plugging this into a portable battery?

    • +1

You don't need to - the S1 has an inbuilt battery and is portable. Good for at least a 2-3 hours of pumping.

      • For real. I'll check which one we have. Could be pre in built. It's borrow from a friend. Thanks

I tried one of these, but it didn't work. My breasts didn't get any bigger. 😂 Lol

I can assure you it works on 🍆 for this purpose.

    Is this Unisex?

    • Do you mean multipurpose?

  • Is there a good portable pump ppl recommend?

    • +1

Wife has a Spectra S1 and a set of MomCozy portables. She finds the portable pumps to be super uncomfortable to use and it's easier to just take her Spectra S1 with her when she's out and about.

    breast are the best.

The Maymom brand replacement parts are good value, and they also sell different sized flanges.
Milky Business is a great local business on the Central Coast that sells flange inserts to change the diameter of the flanges - 24mm is huge for a lot of women!

For anyone not in the game, Spectra S1 is considered the gold standard for breast pumps.

Our midwife had organised some hospital grade pumps for us to borrow. When I told her not to worry as we had bought a second hand pump, she said she would still suggest the hospital grade pumps unless we bought a Spectra (which we had done).

Our S1 is second hand but is rock solid with zero issues. Much more comfortable than portable options and as a unit, it's got a long proven track record and reputation. We picked ours up on marketplace for $120, but if you really want a new one id highly recommend jumping on this deal.

  • Is it recommended to buy replacement parts with the S1 breast pump?

    • +1

Buy Maymom parts from Amazon instead. They’re cheaper and work just fine.
