      usually for these things you only need to go a handful of times to justify it. For the most part its considered a lot but if you have kids and other commitments that bring you there, you can justify it

  I wonder if you could buy a membership to an interstate zoo cheaper as they are usually reciprocal

  Taronga looks to be cheaper - for 2 adults it's $318 vs $220(flex)/$198(individual) + $20 joining fee.

  I don't think the difference was that much previously.

  Most of the zoos have reciprocal visit agreements, but there's always the risk of them cancelling it.

    It would probably be weird to get Taronga Zoo passes for someone in Victoria and then have to explain that you can use the membership at Victorian Zoo's but if someone wanted to buy them for themselves, I don't think it would really have any risk in it considering the membership passes are reciprocal and have been that way since they starting doing memberships.
