  • Ordered. I hope the website is legit…

Bikeinn is definitely legit, bought heaps of stuff from them in the past

      • +4

Ditto, definitely legit, have bought from them before.

    • +2

Legit but can take up to a month to arrive especially during xmas shopping period like this

      • +1

Yeah, I've only heard bad things.

    • Bike inn has been around for years and years.

Ps. These look like micro USB still?

  • +1

Very good price - would jump on it if I didn’t already have one!

    • just put it side by side

    • +1

      Just buy another bike

    • +2

      would jump on it

That's not how you're supposed to use it.

    • RRP $369 from Garmin site, 99Bikes etc $289.

    • You can always put it left side

  • Just bought the Magene version and not overly happy with it.

    • +1

Thanks for the feedback as I was considering the Magene too…

    • Interesting. I'm finding it's pretty good. Loud tone for cars, quieter for bikes coming up behind. Very few false positives. Synced to Forerunner 255.

Got mine for $60 from marketplace to trial, it's definitely a keeper for me.

The Magene is normally around $180-$190 (+delivery) on Ali, so $189 for the Garmin is a no brainer.

      • Interesting. Maybe ill try it a bit longer. Only been on 2 rides with it

        • I've got one and am happy with it. Have ridden with a person with the Garmin and the results are identical.

          • @prhino: Good to hear. Ill persist with it

    • +2

Radar maybe? It's in the title.

    • +1

One emits light and the other reflects light.

    • That is not a radar and is not software compatible with a bike computer.

    • +6

One is bright and really helpful, and the other is you.

    • +1

You'd have to be daft to buy an amber reflector, which you can't mount and have to have to special order, instead of a red light.

It's proven a red flashing light is the best and recommended to run it during the day as well for the best safety

You might have slow shipping times from Bikeinn this time of year.. I ordered some Look Keo pedals from Bikeinn on 29 Nov 2023 that were delivered on 15 Jan 2024.

    • +1

Thus was my experience also. Ordered an item last year on 28 Nov 2023 and didn’t receive it until mid February.

  • +2

How exactly does it help me on the road?
It seems it will just let me know aim going to die a couple of seconds before it happens?

    • +16

I haven’t tried it yet, just ordered, but my expected use cases are:
      1. Can take centre of the lane when there’s no cars, pull off to side when a car approaches
      2. I like to ride side by side with other riders when the road is clear but go single file when there’s cars. The radar will give extra time to move to single file when a car is approaching.
      3. Awareness - know whether there are cars without constantly looking over shoulder.

      • +2

Basically this, the light is also very visible from quite far away and the light flashes will react differently once a car is approaching (and vary again if the car is approaching quickly)

      • +4

Davie10's reply is A+. They do exactly this and are invaluable for most riders that use them.

One consideration is they can be less useful in city centres where traffic is constant. However in outer suburbs, rural roads or early in the morning they dramatically increase situational awareness.

        • +1

Best investment for a road bike rider, especially for country roads!

Ensures you ARE seen by those approaching from behind, and you get audio/visual alerts to ensure you're aware of vehicles approaching from behind, long before they get to you.

When you ride a bike without one, you definitely miss it.

Genuinely thanks for the answers, I'm just a Sunday rider at best, but these sound like solid arguments to buy 👍

      • +1

One of the best cycling purchases I've made

  • +6

    I’m sorry Dave I’m afraid I can’t do that …..

    Cheaper on temu

  • Any recommendations on a front and rear camera for cycling saftey?

    • +1

      Cycliq.

      Not Ozbargain-friendly though

      • +1

J I’m surprised they are still around with amount of hate they get.

        • I haven't had any issues with mine

          • @prhino: I’ve got the original fly 6 and it’s been rock solid and still working well, but all I hear from others is complaints about faults and their customer service

    • +2

I'd just get a 360 camera, and mount it to cover front and back

      • +1

Thanks, that seems to be the best option as Ive checked out front and back options

        • No worries. I actually have a relatively new Insta360 X4, and can recommend it for this purpose.

      • +1

and they have function that acts like a dash cam where it's always recording and you just hit save when you need to.

  • Can it stick on e-scooters ?

    • +1

No, there's no suitable place to mount it

        • Not going to work for a radar.

    • Do e-scooters ever get overtaken? :-Þ

  • Cheers OP. Ordered 2.

I got grilled by 99 bikes for asking to price match this. I input the price + postage but a strong NO

    • You're basically asking them to match Amazon. Bikeinn is a totally different business model with pricing based on overseas supply chains so the prices are lower. 99 bikes is retail in Australia and not a grey import so naturally more expensive

    • Yeah they wouldn't match an overseas store or even Amazon to be honest. Pushys is a good balance of best prices and local stock and 99 is usually happy to match them. Just get it from bike inn or Amazon and wait, usually expected for the cheapest price.

      • Yeah with pushys they're good.
With BikeInn though, doesn't that possibly put you in a risky situation with Garmin and warranty. I've found people saying they're very difficult to deal with country of origin is not where the claim is made from.
When you say get from BikeInn/Amazon and wait, can you explain? Wait for?

        • Dunno just get it for the price you are prepared to pay from where you think it's best.

Obviously for warranty get from Australia. Most stuff doesn't matter but up to you.

        • +1

Garmin is difficult to deal with, regardless of where you purchased.

          • @prhino: 2y ACL easy, if it stuffs up it will probably be straight away or later.

  • -1

Delete post. Doesn't deliver to Aus

  • Seems like they have restricted shipping to Straya.

  • Dang. Was going to pull the trigger on this.

    • Lol, can't dick around have to pouce straight away brother.
