      What's changed in 4 years. Banks / exchanges making it harder to on/off ramp. Not really a bull signal..but it's all silly season anyway.

      Good for the banks when people borrow to invest in a "sure thing".

      If it goes to zero…banks and the tax man still must be paid in full.

    Swyftx is a good platform with fantastic support but you do pay for it in fees. If your after only BTC I recommend Bitaroo

      3. store BTC on a cold wallet, DONT keep it on exchanges
      4. DO NOT SELL BTC for 10-15 years

      BTC is a new digital asset for long term preservation and capital growth. Its a LONG term investment, not a get rich quick scheme.

          Just going to a rabbit hole of running a bitcoin node and it has support for wallet. What’s the difference of having a ledger nano vs your own hard disk running a bitcoin node and using the wallet there?

            @xorprime: node offers extra features I dont think average person would use if only accumulating btc and not doing many transactions. Ledger is just easy and also offers support for many other tokens, not just btc. Its portable so can use it anywhere. With Node you have to have access to your computer running it.

        BTC, however, looks quite costly. Is it worth spending such a huge amount to obtain few BTCs? Or spend in some other low cost crypto's?

        And can you let me know more about 'Cold wallet'? Does "coinbase wallet" app from playstore can be counted as cold wallet?

          You dont need to buy a whole BTC, you can start accumulating small amounts, eg 0.01 etc. Its about starting somewhere. If you can of course buy a whole BTC now, great !

          Not many exchanges offer cold wallets - meaning self custody - as in only YOU have the keys to it.

          Coinbase offers choice of hosted wallet or a self-custody wallet. I would still though get a ledger and create your own wallet. Save the back up seed phrase in multiple encrypted locations. There is software you can buy that can encrypt / lock folders on USB or your HDD. Make regular backups of your HDD using software like Acronis.

          You can also setup recurring weekly purchase with AU based exchange like BTC Markets. eg $100 a week and its set and forget. Of course you need to move the BTC out regularly.

    With Swyftx, is there a minimum amount to transfer BTC to another person / pay a service?
    I have binance and it requires a minimum amount to be able to transfer it / pay a service.

    Ps: I am learning to use BTC for usenet subscriptions…

    Don't sign up using the referral, you won't get the $20.

    Edit: in fact from the previous link plenty of people didn't get anything. I'd be wary of this site.

      I messaged support, they say you need to complete KYC 1 Gold level verification. I'd say this has been a pretty common reason why many didn't receive their reward.

    I sold all my 15 Bitcoin in 2018 at the bottom at $5000. Everyone was saying it was going back down to $1000 back then and I panic sold. I will never forgive myself. Still waiting for a dip to buy back in, it has been 6 years of waiting. Now in 2024 ETH is more expensive than BTC in 2018.

    Swyftx are grifters. Closed my account because I violated ToS (which is fair enough). You're not allowed to withdraw your crypto directly to a gambling wallet apparently. Wasn't aware of that so they closed my account, which is all well and good. Until I tried to reclaim my $300 in crypto that was in my account when they closed it. They delete all trace of your account so you can't even log in to place a support ticket. You're left in email address support purgatory where they ignore you for days, tell you there is 'no way they can assist in the returning of lost crypto' and 'too bad' basically.

    I got my crypto back but it took threats and was like pulling teeth. Stay clear and use coinspot where they don't tell you how to use your crypto.

    Where are the terms and conditions for the sign-up bonus? The ad is very vague.

    Is a $30 deposit required to qualify for the $20 worth of Bitcoin? Or are they just stating that $30 is the minimum amount you can deposit?

    Do you only need to "verify your identity"? Or do you have to also "authenticate your ID" with photos to qualify?

    Bitcoin withdrawal fees on Swyftx is $17.20 AUD as of this morning - so if you're looking at this offer thinking of moving it to a different wallet, you're wasting your time!

        There are always withdrawal fees involved when transferring crypto from one address/wallet to another. It's just that exchanges always charge a lot more than if you were transferring from a non-custondial wallet.

        Started live chat. They queried the link and asked where I came across it.

        They then said I needed to complete my verification (kyc) via the app which It didn't say anything about when you do the initial verification.

        Installed app and done that so waiting to see if the signup comes through…

      Seems like the above sign-up link was part of uber promotion and the representative confirmed that it is taken down now, however they did honour the bonus which was quite impressive. It requires ID verification though.
