Getting a PS5 at Xmas, What’s Some Good Games That Are Super Cheap, Used?

We bought a PS5 for our son to replace the aging PS3 and PS4 (well, will still keep them).

So, we are wanting to buy a couple of cheap 2nd games for it .. like from the bins in EBgames. He can buy more expensive ones himself.

So what’s some good PS5 games that’d likely be super cheap and are decent?

Single player, not online, and like Red Dead 2 and Assassins Creed style

Somewhat off-topic, please make sure you set it up and get it online and updated before xmas day :)

Game updates and installs could take up the whole day lol

I'm an xbox player, but I would've thought Spider-Man should be towards the top of the list? Maybe just 1 good game, rather than a few average games might suit?

    • Ia the spiderman game any different to the ps4 one?

  • Demon Souls
    Ratchet & Clank
    Horizon:Zero Dawn

  • Depends how old your son is, and what he prefers to play.

    Here's the all-time top list for PS5: https://www.metacritic.com/browse/game/ps5/all/all-time/meta…

  • It’s been a while since I tried them but the PlayStation plus, Ubisoft and ea subscriptions used to include a games library with lots of non aaa and older games

Spiderman, Horizon, Last of Us, Uncharted, Witcher 3 all fit in that action RPG category like AC and RDR. But a good chunk of those you can get through playstation plus extra, so you'd be best off paying for that for 3-6 months and let him decide what he wants to buy outright (or keep paying the subscription).

As above, the PlayStation catalogue has a decent amount of games for all ages.

Not sure if this is the best method, but if you're going to buy digital games and a PS+ subscription, use two user different accounts.

On one account have the subscription to PlayStation Plus. This account can download and install games and any user account on the PlayStation can play them.

On the other account, purchase the digital games. Again, this account can install the games and the other can play it.

If you're playing games together on the same PlayStation, you need to sign in to different accounts anyway. This way, if the digital game you bought goes into the PS catalogue, you can play multiplayer together on separate PlayStations.

Also, you can play the digital games at the same time providing one of them turns the network off.

  • Ok, Maybe the PSplus extra is the way to go (stopped the normal psplus when prices all went up a year or two ago)

So a question … anywhere to buy discounted ps cards to make the subscription a little cheaper?

    • They don't sell those cards anymore.
You actually just missed out on 30% off PS+ 12 months BF sale, unless you try to sign up and see it discounted since you're a new buyer.

      • 30% off… bugger we missed that

You have a PS4 already so I'll put those aside.
And I agree with those saying a PS+ Extra subscription is all he'll need for ages but for cheap discs look out for Deathloop, Wild Hearts, In Sound Mind, Lords of the Fallen, Ghostwire Tokyo, Immortals of Aveum, Thymesia, Steelrising, Skull and Bones, Dead Space. Several MA rated titles mind you.

    • Thanks for this.

    Marketplace, plenty of bargains

    Horizon
    Assassins Creed etc

  • For the price of 2 or 3 games, you could have gotten 1 year of PS plus subscription during the Black Friday sales ($110-$130). This works out to about $10 per month for hundreds of games, including some of the top-rated PS5 games, most of the Assassin's Creed series, Far Cry series, Fallout series, Doom series, God of War series, Resident Evil series, Uncharted series, Skyrim (Ps5 version), Last of Us (Ps5 version), Witcher 3 (Ps5 version), Ghost of Tsushima (Ps5 version), Death Stranding (Ps5), Demon's Souls (Ps5) Bloodborne (Ps4), etc.

Even at the normal price I'd say it's worth it, at least for the first year until you've played some of these games.

    • Yeah, i think thats the way to go.
Qe stopped psplus when they went to the 3 tier subscriptions… didnt want to support it. Been a PSplus subscriber since our ps3. Looks like maybe the Extra one is the one to go for..$169.

Do you know anywhere offering it cheaper?
