Hi OP? Still waiting for the long-promised pickup option. I assume it's been difficult to arrange since you're not a roaster and are outsourcing it?

Morning @bilbies just a few comments clarify things so we're on the same page!

I promised it would be live in 2024. We're still in 2024. We are a roaster, not a drop shipper, not that there's anything inherently wrong with being a drop shipper. We have already offered click and collect to Lime Blue Coffee customers this year. As such, Lime Blue Coffee customers have been to our HQ and seen our roaster. On more than one occasion we've turned on the click and collect function on our site, it's worked for a little while then caught a tech bug, so we had to turn it off again to fix the issue. We always do subtle tests of new tech features to iron out any issues before a public launch. Furthermore, we're currently working on an exciting project (well I think it is) to create a hybrid in-person/online coffee experience space. I hope this clears up everything and gets us back on the same page :)

      • Sorry assuming this after seeing your address is an office building. I just never seen a physical roaster that you can’t pop in and pickup a bag of coffee.

        • I've seen a few. As the OP pointed out, you want the in-person experience to be somewhat pleasant instead of feeling like you've just walked into the back of an someone's messy shed. A proper coffee roasting operation can look rather…industrial, which is not the trendy, hip, clean space that a lot of customers might be expecting. Even if it's something as simple as erecting a wall or barrier to hide the clutter and equipment it's still one more thing to add to the 'to-do' list.

          • @Chazzozz: If LB customers think that a roastery isn't industrial, they're probably not the customers that they're actually getting.

A number of us recently saw 'back-of-house' at Inglewood - a great experience!

I (& possibly, we) would love to do the same with LB!

Looking forward to receiving my 3kg of Lime Blue SP next week.

@lostincanberra: Hey @lostincanberra appreciate the feedback and I hear you. Unfortunately the wheels of progress aren't always as quick as we'd like, I regularly want to simply blink to go from idea to execution; it's been over a year in the making to make the experience vision a reality and although we're fairly close now, we're still not over the line just yet. An open check book (wishful thinking) can make things move much faster, but even they there's external factors that can slow things down. I promise the experience is live we'll make an announcement and send out a welcome invite :)

Terrific to hear, thank you so much for the fantastic order!

          • @Chazzozz: Really appreciate the support as always @Chazzozz !!!

The reason click and collect isn't currently live is not really to avoid an unpleasant visual, but you're correct the goal is to create a special experience. Putting aside for the moment the special experience we're trying to create, which is super important to us. Anything that changes operations has a significant impact for us,. When it scales if there's an issue it quickly becomes a large issue, as we're a relatively lean operation. Click and collect has the risk of wasted coffee and wasted packaging e.g. someone orders, we pack it, it sits for a week waiting to be picked up, then the customer cancels. There needs to be new tech implemented on our site that works seamlessly (we have tested the tech more than once and needed to turn it off when it broke, so a few customers have spotted it live and have done click and collect already) with not just the systems customers see, but all operations tech in the background they can't see, but is essential for a smooth dispatch experience. Click and collect also needs to be a value add, not detraction for the existing delivery experience, so I need to ensure it's done in a way that doesn't directly cause prices to increase and interrupt dispatch of orders for delivery, then there's a whole lot of other factors like OH & S, how do we create an experience where customers feel welcome and not in the way, while mitigating the risk of them walking in a pallet on the move…I know on the surface it may seem super straight forward to do click and collect, but there's a lot of factors to consider to the service addition is a value add :)

        • No stress Bilbies!

Yes, there are offices in the location, but there's a lot more going on here. The site is fairly large being over 6 hectares. There's a labyrinth of literally hundreds of businesses across heaps of different industries. There's wholesale businesses, eCom retailers, services businesses, ten pin bowling, mini golf, an arcade, a brewery and so much more.

I can understand from your perspective if you've "never seen a physical roaster that you can't pop in and pickup a bag of coffee," but I can assure to they exist and by very definition it there's no open to walk ins then you wouldn't see them. Some businesses are structured for in-person orders, other businesses are structured for online orders and other businesses are structured for a hybrid in-between, there's no right or wrong method, there's just different methods :)

Sounds like there’s plenty to see and do. Might be worth a visit, and not just for the coffee!!

  • Thanks Tom, placing an order for 2025 so our coffee fix is sorted for the new year!

Wonderful to hear, thank you so much!!!

Love your planning ahead skills :)

  • Is this bean good for making Coffee Latte?

    • Yes. This one has a fairly earthy flavour profile in my opinion, but the official tasting notes say:

Aroma = Dark Cherry, Blackcurrant, Milk Chocolate, Salted Caramel
      Sweetness = Brown Sugar
Acidity = Sweet Juicy Green Apple
      Fruit 1 to Chocolate 10 Flavour Scale = 6.5
Beverage Base = Black or White - Deliciously Sweet Black, Enough Oomph to Cut Through Milk

      • Ordered 3kg to try :).

        • Amazing, thank you so much!!!

I hope you absolutely love this special Single Origin from Colombia :)

  • Did anyone have issues with Kenya Nyeri Washed Single Origin from one of the earlier deals?
Mine was burnt, and broken in pieces

    • Received and replied to your email, happy to troubleshoot this one with you there!

No other similar reports, so I think it'll hopefully just be an extraction tweak solution :)

  • How does this compare with the Peru Chanchamayo?

I have loved that coffee, the Kenya one I had was roasted fine (unlike @dajackal's experience); but I wanted more out of flavour

(Mokapot; full pre-heated resevoir, brew time around 3min; usually makes 80mL of coffee out of 165-170mL water)

Hey @freedomj absolutely wonderful to know how much you enjoyed our super special Kenya Single Origin!!!

Our Colombia and Peru are not just close geographically, they're quite similar in terms of flavour, yet still unique to one another. The main flavour differences is Colombia have a slightly higher acidity kick and more fruity secondary notes. Whereas the Peru has a higher level of sweet earthy notes :)

      • Thanks for the reply!

For clarification for future readers; I loved the Chanchamayo the Kenya one was fine: but I was far more excited to return Peruvian one. Currently have 2KG in the freezer and another 4kg ordered for delayed dispatch :)

        • Sure thing :)

Wonderful to hear, thank you. I must say I love your planning ahead skills, to ensure you don't run out of the good stuff!

  • New customer grabbing some beans for gifts (but with the caveat of the recievers making me some coffee so I get to compare you guys with aldi haha), with both the mtm blend and this one, keen to see how it goes.

Cool ordering process so we can time it with christmas and being optimal for cracking open 👍
