All i had to do was to take the 3G device and the email to the store where i bought my device from and got the replacement on the spot. The process might be different at other stores.

Of course. They make an extraordinary amount of money by harvesting and selling your data.

      Airplane mode every day!

      Selling it to whom?

      • +1

        Freddie Kruger

      • "Affiliates, subsidiaries and business partners. We may disclose your Consumer Health Data to our affiliates, subsidiaries and any company owned or controlled by ResMed. ResMed also partners with other businesses to offer products and services and we may disclose your Consumer Health Data to those business partners."

So basically, the highest bidder. Data sales make up about 40% of their revenue nowadays.

What happens to devices bought from Gumtree?

    • +1

Take it back to Gumtree with the email? … and/or see tugman's reponse above.

    • Just the serial number on the modem should be enough.

  • Are the replacements the same machine but just with a 4G modem?

    • The replacement is just the modem itself. It's easily removable and replaceable.

  • All i had to do was to take the 3G device…

How old was your 3G device? 4G devices have been out for quite a number of years.

    • I bought mine about 3 years ago.

      • Brand new 3G from a store ~3 years ago?

        • I bought another resmed model a week ago and it still has a 3G modem in it. I had to fill in a form to get a new modem sent out.

        • +1

Yeah. 4G was more expensive for some reason. So i thought it was a good idea to get 3G and save some money. I had absolutely no idea that 3G network would be phased out back then. I guess it turned out alright for me :D

  • my email says "To get started, simply bring your ResMed 3G device and this email to the place of purchase, and your authorised dealer will help send it to the ResMed Service Centre for the upgrade. Please note that during the process, you may be without your device for a short time."

    • +1

Ok, so they're just upgrading the modem. Yawn, pass. OSCAR exists.

      • +2

OSCAR all the way. About a zillion times better than the ResMed rubbish. Kinda glad I don't qualify for an upgrade - means I keep my data.

      • OSCAR?

      • +1

The store took my old 3G device and gave me a new 4G equivalent device. The only difference is the modem. But they replaced the whole device, not just the modem. Not sure if other stores are handling it the same way tho.

  • +1

Can we just remove the module altogether?

    • +1

The modem is easy to pull out. Save some pennies on your power bills.
