Even though I grow up with internet. I still use LP to do my planning before vacation. :)
The LP guides (esp the maps) were invaluable for me when I was a young 'un. In my travels I would always see Westerners carrying these.
Me too. Spent years backpacking with these. I have a meter long library of old LPs on a shelf. And a couple of Rough Guides. I don’t want LP to die but I’m worried they will with access to data and social networks while travelling these days. I might buy an eBook for an upcoming trip.

still do lol
Went to India on an Intrepid group trip, there were 9 of us in the group and every single one of us had the LP India guide book but in 5 different languages (english, french, german, spanish and Japanese). I have a photo somewhere of us all holding our respective books.
I believe a lot of the translations were local efforts (rather than official LP translations, although LP provided consent) so the local translator often skipped sections or entire towns if they couldnt be bothered. So the guidebooks were all slightly different
Lonely Planet
Is there a Pluto edition ?
No, Pluto is not a planet any more. 😕
how about TOI-733B edition
😂 Now you’re getting technical.
I would buy that edition though. Under “Getting There And Away”:
You’ll need to book early for TOI-733B, with flights not available into the foreseeable future. But when they are, expect the fun of close to light-speed travel, cryogenic sleep chambers and unlimited molecular-printed gin and tonics. It’s also known as the Years Long Party Bus.
The real bargain - free access!
For those interested in the ebook versions, these are available on Kindle unlimited, which you can access via a free trial or very cheap intro offer (I think my offer was 3 months for $0.99 or similar).
The real bargain - free access!
available on Kindle unlimitedwhich is not free…
You might be able to get them free through your local library though…
I reckon a free trial fits the definition of free - perfect if you want to access a guide book for a month only, ahead of and then while on holiday.
I reckon a free trial fits the definition of free
No, that is the definition of a 'trial'
… but I’ll give you a plus 1 for the library, library for the win, assuming you can get a current version of these things.
Back in the day you wouldn't travel without one of these.
