Laptop for Accounting Student Budget < $1500

Hi all, going to be studying accounting and information systems next year and am looking for a laptop below $1500 to last a minimum of 3 years.

Uses: Browsing, spreadsheets, YouTube, may include light programming. Not really a tech guy, so feel free to ask further questions.

Any replies appreciated!

  • Used ThinkPad T14 gen 2 intel

  • +1

Accountants like numeric keypads, do you rate this feature?

    • Yes, very much. Have been able to cope without one on my old laptop throughout high school but will definitely appreciate one next year.

      • That will massively narrow your selection… unless you're OK to cart around a bluetooth add-on?

        • I'm definitely down to use a bluetooth numpad if necessary. Just spoke to my dad (also studied accounting), he said a numpad isn't entirely necessary until I start my career.

          • @jalensuggsfan: Ask your dad what laptop he uses

            • @netjock:

Ask your dad what laptop he uses

I believe he uses an elitebook that his company has given him, not too sure on the model

  • Consider a 16" ASUS Vivobook with an 8845HS processor. KB will have numpad, more screen for spreadsheets, while only weighing 1.5kg

Will you be using cash or accrual accounting?

    • I think accrual accounting is usually studied way more in uni

      • When I went, it was all cash…
