I have an Alcatel 3 2019 phone and the power button has all but died. I was ready to bin the phone thinking the button didn't work at all. It did work however for me today and I'm keen to see if there is a work around, I know there are ways to power it off with the power button but is it possible to power it on?
How to Power ON Android Phone without Using Power Button?

Just edited to be more clear, it didn't work at all and now it did work but I'm worried it won't work again. Have not tried the charging trick, a bit scared to haha.
Just never turn it off or let it run flat.
Yeah was thinking that but isn't sustainable for the inevitable? Meaning when I forget to put it back on charge or something. I guess that is my only option if there is no other way. Will dramatically shorten life of battery also.
@figarow: The power button is not really dead, just that there is a piece of flexible plastic acting as a spring that depresses the power switch. This spring is part of a larger plastic assembly on the side of the phone.
That spring might have become mis-alinged or broken, plastic becomes brittle with age or over-use.I have an alcatel 1 that has a broken Volume Up button, it works if I press in hard with a fingernail, but the plastic spring that is built into the back cover has failed so it doesn't work normally. It's too small and fiddly to repair.
But if it is the power button that is indeed faulty, it's only about $3 or 4 Aussie dollars to replace it.

@scrimshaw: It's not the cost of the part but my ability. I don't have a good track record with trying to fix phones, I'm okay with desktops, not so much with laptops and phones well I just suck.
If you were going to throw it out anyway, any chance you can try to open it to see why power button isn't working? Maybe the power button doesn't have direct contact with the board when it is pressed. Could be easy fix to realign the connector or stretch out the pin so it has better connection. Not sure how it works just possible button scenarios.
Yeah I'd likely break something.. Keeping it on all the time might be a better solution for me.
It's time for a new phone.
You could try a phone repairer but it's unlikely to be an economical repair.
You could pull the phone apart and manually bridge the contacts but that's a lot of effort.
I have other phones this will be used as a spare. It's in perfect condition screen doesn't even have a scratch.
What is Alcatel ?
Plug it into a charger?
Press the button 99 more times?
