I have been using this fridge for more than 10 months now, it has been OK. Had to turn it off once to defrost as we had ice build up in the freezer section.
is it made it China may I ask?
Yes, made in China
@Justuser: Thanks. I might skip this time.
your phone's also made in China. How's it working?
@NirajSS: Another one…do you copy and paste your comments? FYI, my phone made in Vietnam? Happy?
@ntt: That's great!
@ntt: I know it’s your own money and all.. but this whole notion of tryna avoid China is just plain dumb. Anyway, I’ll go on with my day.
@unfinishedsentenc: If you have to choose between made in Germany and made in China, only for this flipping Bosch, which one you choose? From the beginning did I say anything bad about made in China? Don't try to drag me into those stupid arguments about China please.
@ntt: Are you really comparing the two as if they cost the same amount of money? I swear some people don't use their brains.
@unfinishedsentenc: I didn't know, hence the initial question. This conversation is going in circles. Please keep your opinion to yourself; I don't buy it. Thanks!
The irony that there's a massive 'no frost' written on the freezer baskets
No frost for normal operation, however unfortunately we are not your "normal" users, with kids and wife not closing doors properly quite often…
Luckily, we have 2 fridges, so we can afford to turn it off for a day and de-frost it properly. Would have been issue if we didn't have a second fridge@Justuser: Does it have one of these weak door open alarms that you can barely hear so there's no real point it existing?
@Nalar: Alarm sound is not weak, however sometimes if door is not completely closed it takes long time to start beeping. Also sometimes it doesn't go off from my experience.
otherwise it's a good fridge, holds consistent temperature@Justuser: Is it possible to adjust the feet so the front of the fridge tilts back ever so slightly, so the door can close on its own? The thing though is whether the mechanism will seal shut when the door is close to the final position or will it remain open with the tiniest gap?
@sirspiff: Fridge door needs some force to close it properly. Small elevation won’t be enough.
no info on where this is manufactured
Complete stab in the dark, but if Bosch segments their fridges anything like their dishwashers - this (series 6) should be German made.
According to the Appliances Online page - China
Couldn’t see it listed on the actual Bosch page
When they decide not telling you, it's always China. ;)
No ice system
Almost pulled the trigger on this (or a close cousin) over the weekend for $1867 at AO but got a deal on an LG for a price I couldn't refuse (GS-B599MBL for $1100)
That's a great price for LG. Where did you get this from?
The Good Guys, although full disclosure was part of much larger purchase of various items for new home had some negotiating power.
Make sure you measure your fridge cavity before purchasing, it's quite tall compared to most others.
The single comment that changed the decision - Appreciate such feedback.
can Appliance Online do price match for Costco? Just ordered the same one last week on AO:(
Just called and they won't do price matching because Costco is not a retailer
did the same. and ask AO to cancel my order with instant full refund.
And they still make profit on this.. the margin…. Fffffffff !!
These deals are almost always funded by manufacturer discounts on certain stock. Bosch may have wanted to clear stock and Costco made a deal for a large order. It isn’t an indication of their margins.
Had this fridge for about a year, as I wanted quad door + no water/ice (failure point) and didn't care for wifi or window displays. Manufactured in China for people who want to know.
It's been good so far.
Only complaints/things I wish I thought about more:
- The freezer is 3 drawers per door, which is good for organising things, but not good for storing large things. Would have preferred something a bit more modular/configurable
- There aren't many (I think 1 or 2 per door) door trays on the refrigerator section, which might be an issue for people who have a lot of bottles/sauces they want to keep on the doorOtherwise it's been good so far, no other complaints/quibbles.
Can you more specific what large items that couldnt be fit in there? How about a duck or turkey?
Does Costco help you set up the fridge on delivery like AO?
Choice rating of 43% - one of the worst in the test.
@dec1an whats the choice rating of LG 664L Side by Side Refrigerator Matte Black GS-B599MBL?
The LG GS-B600MBL got a 59%
Isnt this a better deal?
