Hi,, I have a basic Hercules speaker system for my computer. It consists of a pretty decent plug-in woofer (I keep this on the floor), and 2 smaller desktop speakers, as well as a wired controller with a dial for volume. I think these cost about $100-$150.
I would like to have improved sound without breaking the bank. It doesn't have to be audiophile quality, but just better than what I've got. I have a bit of hearing loss in my right ear, and I'm not sure if that's the reason, but I find these speakers a little hard to listen to even just for videos and podcasts. Maybe because they're so close to me on the desk. Also, there seems to be a lot of bass (from the woofer) and treble (from the smaller speakers), but not much mid-range.
I also would love a system that doesn't require too many wires This Hercules system is a bit complex, with wires/cables running all over the place.
Maybe spend the money to see an ent specialist instead of speakers. Do a hearing test at the minimum because you will be losing the ability to hear specific frequencies and this may determine the speakers you will buy next.
