Location of large Remote Control Sale in Port Melbourne?

Sorry, didn't know if this should be here or Find Me A Bargain…
I saw an ad on TV saying that there is a large sale of remote control toys such as cards and helicopters somewhere in Port Melbourne, but Google isn't helping me find it.
Does anyone happen to know what I'm talking about? They had mini copters for $5 and professional ones for $99, nothing amazing but I would like to go and see some being used since I reckon all these bargain ones on the internet must be really dodgy or noisy :)
(Or if anyone can recommend a brand of RC copter it would be good, even if it isn't cheap)

  • It's crap, I've been there.

But if you want the address, it's corner Plummer and Smith Streets. There's a clothing sale next door as well but it's crap too.

Most people came out empty handed.

  • Been there too - waste of time - dont know how they will recover the cost of the TV advertising - must think most people are idiots!

  • Oh ok, thanks for the heads up. Won't bother then, I'll just look at reviews online for something good.
    Thanks!

  • They may have a handful of $5 helicopters but there was not too many as they sold out when the gate opens (COTD style). The rest of the stuff were all massively overpriced.

The clothing sale next door was a waste of time too. A collection of no-brand t-shirts, jeans with MYER prices. No Diesel as they advertised.

I strongly don't waste your time.

  • Hi nkbswe5

Please do not listen to the above comments I have been there the last 3 days and have had no other feeling than amazement.

Do yourself a favour and go down there for some great bargains. I picked up a nitro buggy with a missing wheel (i had a spare) for just $32. Now that is a bargain.

And no I do not work for them haha

    • So you bought something that's broken for $32? Even if it's not broken I have to think twice. $32 is normal price I thought, or maybe I'm just a tight-arse.

Not everyone have a spare wheel sitting at home that will fit the nitro buggy you bought. I have to say you're very lucky.

  • Hi Cacbm

You must be corrected. I clearly wrote my product was "missing" a wheel. It is in no way broken much the same as a television missing a remote control is also not "broken" as you state.

I do however agree with your description of yourself. And please let me remind you that swearing makes baby jesus cry.

$32 is extremely cheap considering the RRP is $449 ..

You may consider the thought that others would also like to be as lucky as me, and when I was there yesterday they had over 70 x $5 RC helicopters but I was only allowed to buy 2 of them…

    • If you want to argue about the definition of "broken", a remote controlled car with 3 wheels instead of 4 is of course "broken" in my books, as most people won't have the missing wheel sitting at home. And what happens when they take the 3-wheel car home? It doesn't run at all.

You can remind me whatever you like mate, but please make sure they make some sense.

I believe there may be 70 helicopters but from my experience, if you're not there to line up half an hour prior to the gate opens, you won't get it.

They did not say how much each item is at the warehouse and you have to ask. One remote helicopter similar to the cheaper one was being sold at $49.95.

  • Hi cacbm

Please note; this is not a flame forum.

I am not arguing at all. You directed your initial and last post at me. Your books are wrong, I suggest you return them.

If you search for the definition of "broken" it is by far different to the definition of "missing" even someone with your IQ can work that out.

Also, if and when someone takes a car with 3 wheels home, it runs great much the same as Mr. Beans car does.
I just so happened to have a spare wheel to suit, sorry to hear you are less fortunate.
I also resent the remark you made suggesting I was your "mate", I would never socialise with anyone of your bullying nature.

So please take your unjust comments elsewhere as the warehouse remote control sale is wonderful, I just hope it will be there for some time as I would love to take my grandkids there someday.

I personally recommend anyone to go there for a browse and to pick up a great bargain at the same time. I really hope that people can do so enjoyfully without comments such as the above to waste their time.

    • I don't wanna argue with you furthermore. If you think the sale is so great, why don't you post it as a deal and let more people know about it?

And I would like to retract the use of the word "mate". I should've substituted it with words such as "Craig the warehouse sales guy", "Craig the remote control sales guy" or just "idiot".

The sale is terrible, alone with the clothing sale next door.

      • No need to start flaming buddy. Craig has valid points as well and just because you dont agree with him doesn't mean you resort to calling them idiots.

  • i found the website, finally… they had previously advertised it on one of their earlier commercials, doesn't look too special but then i haven't gone down to check this place out.

personally i used to find the best deals at Tower Hobbies in the US, and just mail order a group of things at once (especially when it comes to parts, much cheaper!). Their site is www.towerhobbies.com, though the deals might not be as good now as they used to be since our dollar decided to do the free fall.

  • The discussion has already gone way off-topic here, not to mention the sale has already passed. Thread closed.
