1660

Dec 28 edit 2: "low stock" message went away.

Dec 28 edit: site claims "low stock" (for delivery purposes), stores themselves appear to be very well stocked from a quick check of some capital cities.

Dec 27 edit: click and collect available again.

Boxing day edit: still valid as at 745pm aedt, have set to expire NYE 2099AD.

Xmas day edit: Still valid as at 1130am aedt, I've set this page to expire at end of day but it may expire earlier.

Edit: Added link.

Edit 2: Some comments suggest free postage is being applied for orders less than $100 despite what the site says.

I'm sure you all know what Eneloops are by now so I'll spare you the blurb..

Catalogue states "Limited stock. Stock may vary by store." so make sure the store you're ordering from has stock (click + collect or call) before you visit to save any hassles.

      • +3

Relax fellow OzBargainer, nfr was trolling and you bit :)

        • +11

          Whats trolling??? ;-)

        • +6

          are you serious ????

          read the urban dictionary
The art of deliberately, cleverly, and secretly pissing people off, usually via the internet, using dialogue. Trolling does not mean just making rude remarks: Shouting swear words at someone doesn't count as trolling; it's just flaming, and isn't funny.

          if that's still not clear

Signs that your trolling is succesful:
*Your victim screaming in all-caps at you.
*Personal attacks (Calling you a retard, idiot, etc).
          *Being an Internet Tough Guy.
*Making a crude remark, before quickly logging off before you can retort.

RETARD IDIOT, I'LL BEAT YOU WITH A BLUNT STICK!!! Logging off now!

PS: I see what you did there ;)

Eneloops are something that will keep your battery-operated devices in endless ENEergy LOOPS by recharging.

While Eneloops come in a variety of colours, they are quite different from the colourful cereal that kids eat for breakfast - Fruitloops. Despite the similarity in names and colour varieties.

      • +4

and they make more of a sparky crunch when bitten

How many eneloops do you people need!

    • +1

An OB can never have enough Eneloops. You should know this by now.

    • giftcardsonsale.com.au for itunes. No eneloop site yet tho!

  • No free delivery this time unless you spend $100? Oh well still an awesome deal and perfect for just about everyone unless you don't know what a Google is :)

    • If you manage to find me a Google could create a Facebook for me?

      • +1

        What's a Facebook?

        • +2

i think its a book with your face in it

        • -2

Many people from China have no access to Facebook and do not know about Facebook.
They use Weibo (Chinese made Facebook) instead.
          Are you from China?

  • I just bought 80 AA batteries in the previous dick smith sale…i used google and found out these are low discharged batteries….but how many alkaline AA batteries equal 1 eneloop one?

    • +1

current generations are rated at 1500 or 1800 cycles I believe.

but as a rechargeable doesnt store the same voltage as an alkaline (80% of the voltage),
lets do some crappy maths and say about 1200 AA alkalines..

(Any chemical engineers can come along and correct this based on the rate of voltage decay difference between the different chemical compositions in the batteries ;) )

      • 1200 Alkaline AA battery = 1 eneloop battery!? Is this on a single charge for eneloop? So say i dont own the recharging dock for the eneloop batteries, would 1 eneloop battery outlast the AA battery 1200 times!.

        • If you can leave it charging 1500 times longer, maybe.

        • and they will sell that for $1999 not $19.99

        • +2

here have one of mine, i sent it to you

        • +4

          ryudo222:
SBOB partly answered your question, just not in the way you were expecting. He was stating 1 Eneloop can be recharged about 1200 times (or more) before it's ready to bin. So on that theory you could have gone through 1200 AA alkalines in the same duration.

I think you were actually seeking life of a single cell comparison, yes?

On the shelf doing nothing Eneloops should retain about 75% of their life after 3 years. This is probably comparable with a decent Akaline and superior to a poor branded one.

Lifespan in use? - In an average application how do the 2 batteries compare in lifespan. Lets say in a low drain remote control or wall clock? I can't speak first hand on this as I've only owned Eneloops for a few months but have done a lot of research on this prior to taking the plunge myself and there are a lot of people saying Eneloops have caught up with and in some cases surpassed Alkaline in this area now. So the old rule of thumb to use rechargeables on higher drain and Alkaline in lower drain devices is now somewhat null and void depending on how many Eneloops you have at your disposal I guess. You wouldn't waste them in a wall clock if you only have 4 but if you have 40 then why not.

I hope you found your answer somewhere in the above. As always I stand to be corrected but I think I've summed it up for you in simple terms.

EDIT: A decent Alkaline should still win when it comes to high drain applications due to this higher voltage (1.5V vs 1.25V) such as torches etc, although Eneloop also have their premium XX range which attempts to bridge that gap.

        • lol beatlock :)

        • Thanks! That answered my question, i might give these one a miss then and make do with the 80 alkaline batteries i bought from dick smith

        • +1

Can someone do the standard post of that awesome charger from amazon? I am actually going to buy some eneloops this time i swear, and now i actually need the charger, i swear

nah they will probably be cheaper on boxing day..

EDIT: Seriously, post up a good recharger deal if you have one

          EDIT2: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000RSOV50

        • ryudo222: Glad I could help. Also something I didn't mention, to get the true worth out of these Eneloop's one should also have a smart charger for them which is going to set you back $40-50 such as a La Crosse BC-700. A regular (dumb) charger will work fine but will shave years off their lifespan by overcharging them (the achilles heel of a rechargeable battery)

beatlock: I think my sarcasm detector just went off but FWIW this is about the cheapest price you'll ever find Eneloops for, locally or otherwise. Amazon generally comes in a few bucks more but is the cheapest when DSE aren't running their 50% off sale. I've never seen an 8 pack for less, except last time they included free shipping without a min spend.

        • +1

hat answered my question, i might give these one a miss then and make do with the 80 alkaline batteries i bought from dick smith

          the environment thanks you…

        • Yes, remember to take those 80 dead alkalines to your local Officeworks store to file them correctly in the rechargeable battery bins ;)

        • Actually rechargeable NiMH batteries are superior in high-drain applications. Alkaline batteries quickly drop their voltage when under load. NiMH batteries have low internal resistance and can maintain voltage under load. On the candlepower forums if you look at the lumens vs time graphs for various batteries used in high power torches you will see that alkaline batteries perform very poorly.

  • ignore

  • Good, was going to buy some and waiting for the price drop.

in case you need the direct link for tomorrow:

Eneloop AA Rechargeable Battery Glitter 8pk
    http://dicksmith.com.au/product/S4468/eneloop-aa-rechargeabl…

    :)

    • Thanks heaps!

  • Excellent price. I only get white ones, because I have babies that put anything colourful in their mouths.

    • +8

Until one day they will find out both white and glitter batteries are equally tasty.

      • -1

And just as difficult as each other to swallow and poop.

  • -6

Looks like the sale hasn't started yet. Attempted to buy one but scanned at $39.99 and website states $39.99 also.
the sales assistant did state their is a catalogue coming out tomorrow.

  • Seen as to how often these are put up on Ozbargain, it should probably be the standard price…

On a serious note, why are these still so popular, I've gotten about 20 of these AA Sanyo batteries in the two years and just can't seem myself wanting more?? IS everyone else stocking up like 40 of these or something?

    • GLITTER!

    • 21/12/2012 buddy

      there will be some survivors!!!!

      • +1

and some stylish survivors at that, GLITTER

    • i keep buying them and they keep disappearing.
      they are fantastic.

      • You got hungry babies?

  • Pretty awesome, however has anyone seen deals on the Sanyo XX range?

  • These are very good batteries….I use them with 'C' Spacers and I am surprised how well they last even with continued use.

And because these are so cheap, I have another set charged and awaiting use to swap over when the other ones are flat.

I would normally stock up but these 1/2 priced deals are become so common now that I don't think I need multiple packs waiting.

A friend has warned me with Kids toys these come in real handy.

The only thing I am wondering about these days if whether to invest in a charger like Baha or La Crosse, or stick with the standard 'dumb' one which is doing a sterling job right now as it is.

  • +1

I think I'm going to find out I own over 100 Eneloops when the kids grow up and I empty the batteries from their toys. Thanks OzBargain :)

  • what is the MAH (milliamps per hour) of these batteries? im thinking that it is around 2000mah but can't find it anywhere

    • From the packaging: Typical = 2000mAh; Minimum = 1900mAh

  • I have already a few eneloops for my Canon Speedlights and they perform very well. I am just thinking about using them in my remote controls and kids toys too. But that raises the questions how long they last?

I know that they are rated to around 1000 to 1500 recharge cycles … which is fantastic. But is there a time limit on it. Would they still perform well after 5 or 10 years.
My old rechargeable batteries didn't last longer than 3-4 years. Is this different with the envelops?

    • +4

nah the envelops last longer, just don't lick them

      • but these are sparkly like fruit tingles !

  • Can someone list the type of charger these require?
I do have a re zap from a while back but might just buy a new one.
    Also C spacers?
    Where to get?
    Cheers

Someone should tell IT guys at DSE that Tuesday meant 1 minute after Monday 23:59. Still normal price on website. True Ozbargain spirit failed, waited for nothing. Going to bed. (pours down glittering tears)

    • +1

Same. It is very much tuesday.

  • I just ordered mine for pick up, saves the delivery fee

  • so now that i click & collect i can now pick up it anytime? like next week?

    • I believe it's meant to be within 24 hours

  • Damn no free delivery this time. Problem is with click and collect, they probably hold it for you for next 48hrs right?

    • Some posts from this deal suggest it really depends on the store, anywhere from a day to several days.

    • The confirmation email they sent me after click and collect checkout shows this:

'Please show your reservation #XXXXXXXXXXXXX to collect your order. Please note we are only able to reserve items for 24 hours.'

  • Nice, I just bought a bunch. Xmas presents solved! Now who wants to provide a thesis on the best battery charger for these things…

  • Any idea on good chargers?

  • I just ordered this and got free delivery to metro Melbourne (actually, to Watsonia if you're good looking and want to stalk me)

The postage charge gets removed at the last step

  • +3

No one has mentioned Turnigy yet? You guys are slipping….:)

  • Are Eneloop Low Self Discharge? I honestly don't know what's special about them. OzBargain does love them so I'm tempted just to buy before I find out!

    • +4

yep, that's right Low Self Discharge - consider them the opposite of a teenage male

  • these are fantastic batteries - and at close to best ever price

  • Plenty in the Perth CBD big store. Just went in and grabbed on pack.

They were not showing as being on special on the rack, but I can confirm that they are this price.

  • +1

Ugh, I don't even need these..

Anyway, I just ordered 2 packs online (so I can get pairs of each colour).

Anyone else get free shipping? I didn't enter any promotional codes, it just automatically added the discount on checkout. I did however log in since I created my account from one of previous eneloop deals (but not sure if this makes a difference).

    Subtotal $39.98
    Delivery $4.95
    Shipping discount -$4.95
    TOTAL $39.98
    GST on order $3.63

  • Free shipping here to Canberra. Shipping got a discount applied once I hit the payment screen.

    • To add to the above, that was ordering after logging in, and ordering two packs.

  • Got a pack of these last time, they look like they are the wild teenage cousins of my plian old white eneloops. I guess they stand out more so I can give them more attention?

  • Comparison on amazon.com

  • Lucky I have a DS store close just just popped down to get a pack… never had them before so looking forward to see how long they last in my xbox controller… Tks poster.

  • Well just bought via PayPal and got stung the $4.95
