People Who Purchased from HP's eBay Store Using Discount Codes - What Price Does Your Invoice Show?

Hi all,

I'm considering buying an HP laptop via ebay using a discount code and I want to confirm the final amount (pre or post discount) on the invoice. For example, if the laptop cost $2000 with a 20% off code, did you see:

Total Price: $2000
or
Total Price: $1600

on your HP eBay invoice?

When I've used discount codes before, most vendors seem to use the pre-discount price but I haven't bought from eBay's HP store before.

Thanks!

  • Was it an HP code or an eBay code?

    • HP-specific code for the eBay store (e.g. "HP24" not "BlackFriday2024")

I remember Dell ebay used to show the amount previous to any discount codes ($2000 in your example).

    Good for TRS shenanigans.

and to maximise your refunds at tax time

I bought from HP ebay a few months ago. Invoice was for the price before Ebay discount. So the invoice amount was higher than I actually paid. I believe that you can legaly claim only what you have actually paid, not what the invoice shows. If ATO audits you, they may want to see the receipt of the actual payment. I'm not an accountant though, so this is just what I believe is the case.

TRS is also all over ebay sales like the one we having now, they are permitted to ask you at claim to show how you paid and if you cant show them a transaction that matehces the exact dollar figure on the invoice they will just reject your claim.
