440

Noticed a fuel discount (6c/L off fuel at BP) on offer via the Carsales app. Click 'Account', and the offer should be under 'My benefits'.

You need to provide Carsales details of your car (make, model, manufacture year, and odometer), to unlock the fuel discount.

It then prompts you to link your BP Rewards account.

It seems like the fuel discount is only redeemable at BP sites that accept BP Rewards.

The discount is not stackable with other fuel discount offers.

    nice

  • Some folk say that BP diesel gives more mileage than other brands.
They're also consistently higher priced; so I haven't been able to test this theory out.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

    • I long didn't believe in this. I went from BP to 7/11 fuel lock to save money. I thought I noticed a drop in fuel economy in both cars then my wife commented the same. I reverted back to BP, and the fuel economy in both my diesel and Premium 98 car has returned to normal.

    • That's not true at all. It actually depends on the location of the servo as Australia has very limited number of fuel suppliers, the same fuel could be supplied to servos in different brands. For example, Ampol supplies fuels to 80% of servos in SEQ. The only 3 brands that don't sell Ampol fuel in SEQ are iOR, Caltex (Chevron) and Shell. So basically in SEQ, 711, BP, Ampol, United etc all sell the same fuel. I assume it's similar in other states.

      • Essentially, but……. The difference is in the additives, esp for 95, 98 and premium diesel.

Whether it's deserved or not, BP premium diesel has a reputation as the best around. Some people swear their vehicles run better and get better consumption with BP, although I've never been able to find any definitive/credible evidence. Would really require a long dyno test on mutliple vehicles with various timing settings.

        • Even additives across different brands could be the same. for example, BP and Ampol in south east qld literally get their fuel from the same pump same tank at the same fuel terminal.

  • thx! can’t be stacked with fuel offers but can you scan this get 6c off then scan Qantas FF?

    • +1

The fuel discount barcode that you scan at the servo is linked to a BP Rewards account, which can be connected to a Qantas FF, so I think you will receive Qantas FF points upon redeeming this offer.

      • Can confirm you do receive Qantas points.

        • Yep I've filled up 3 times using this fuel offer and each time my QFF account has been credited points

"consistently higher prices" about sums it up.

  • Logged into CarSales app
Car was already on there and updated odometer
The only 'benefits' I have there are 15% discount on Budget Direct car insurance and Buy3/get 1free in Yokohama tyres

Was really hoping for the BP discount.

    • Scan your BP rewards card barcode within the Carsales app.

  • does it work when using BPme?

  • +1

Actually, the Carsales fuel offer is also shown as activated in my BP reward app.

  • Haven't used it in store yet but looks like it's all set up in app, thank you

  • Op, thanks for this.
I've always wanted to try bp but stayed away because of their high prices.
This seemed to be just 4c dearer than the cheapest station in a 5 click radius. So showed up today, with an empty tank. The beeper has been beeping at me since yesterday, 0km range, the needle below red. But it was still going.

Drove to the normal diesel only to find that they were the huge one for trucks - it didn't fit my car. So I was forced to fill Premium Diesel for 2c more, against my wishes. Instead of paying $1.68 I was now paying $1.80- $0.6 =$74 per litre, which was a bit rich for my liking. But I was there, I was super low, I didn't want to risk it.

So paid up. I track all my mileage using Fuelly.

I'll finally put this whole thing to rest when I run the full tank back down to 0. Watch this space everyone.
I'm super keen to find out how the numbers go in a couple of weeks with purely city driving.

    • Dm me if anyone wants to see current stats of my car via fuelly. I've tracked over 21,000kms of driving with it. Never filled bp, ever. Between metro and 7-11, no difference whatsoever.

I'm eager to see if bp premium diesel stands up to the hype.

    • These are my deets from my fuel up today at bp.
      Fuel-up Added - 13.5 km/L
      Details
      MPG: 31.7 / UK MPG: 38.0
      L/100km: 7.4
      km/L: 13.5
      Kilometers: 725.0
      Litres: 53.87
      Price: $1.74/Litre
      Total: $93.73

When I fill up again, I'll do the same, I'm tracking the odo, I'll keep you posted. Give everyone some rock hard numbers they can chew on. Instead of just mindless speculation based on 'feelings'. I'm a numbers guy so this will give me closure, hopefully.

  • Filled up earlier and the 6c wasn't taken off the total. Later when I checked the points balance, it added the 6c x litres to the balance (per the terms and conditions). Guess I'm winning from a salary sacrifice pov.

    • Did you follow step 3? “Accept the discount on the pinpad before paying with cash or card”.

It works for me in three different BPs.

      • Ok, apparently there's a different step 3 as opposed to the "Present your BP Rewards barcode through the carsales app at any participating bp site to save 6c per litre on fuel*." But does that mean if I don't accept, I automatically get the points?

      • Ok I think I know what's happening after going into the BP website. I was misled by what's printed on the receipt re points balance and points earned.

      • Thanks
        Thought it was automatically applied
