Roaming with Vodafone and amaysim

I am going Overseas (Asian countries) for almost a month and have two mobiles one with Vodafone and Amaysim - Both prepaid. I like the ability to receive SMSs for OTP but also make / receive phone calls from both of these phones occasionally. I will buy a local sim for general day to day usage.

I know ‘all calls forwarding’ method used to work in the past but lately call forwarding is either not possible or getting expensive with these companies. (My info is little obsolete in this area).

I know Vodafone supports $5 roaming a day but that’s too much especially when I am going for more than a month and I would have a local sim for local usage.

Again not sure if wifi-calling works while roaming with these companies.

Looking for suggestions to deal with it.

Voda: International roaming rates when you’re on a prepaid recharge
Amaysim: Roam overseas starting from just $20 with 365 day expiry
Have to look it up youself to get actual information.

Whack your Sim in a Cheap Android / Samsung and run "Phone Link". Your Sim doesn't leave Australia but you can push your SMS's over "Phone Link/ Your Phone" to a PC. Works great for me. IF you don't travel with Windows 10/11.. sorry.. this won't work.

Use cheap disposable eSims from Trip Sim by SYD and yeah… your authentication apps (superior to SMS) will still work

    • That’s interesting might look into it. It does mean I need a spare android for each sim.

      • Good question. Not sure as I only have a Galaxy Fold 4 and a A55 (I think). Not sure how a Duel Sim Samsung would work with "Phone Link" and having two devices.
