NBTB is a great whisky, but crack it open, close it and leave it for a few days. It's far too abrasive otherwise.

  • I had never heard of it as ‘Nikka by the Barrel’ before; it’s actually ‘Nikka From The Barrel.’ This whisky tastes great, but just a FYI it does not meet all the criteria of ‘Japanese whisky’ defined by the Japan Spirits & Liqueur Makers Association. This is because it includes a blend of whiskies, some of which are not distilled in Japan.

Despite this, Nikka From The Barrel is a delicious whisky.

  • For those who are already a part of the Whiskey club, how has your experience been?

Is it worth signing up? Is there an advantage getting some of these whiskies from here? or is it better to just buy from Dan/Liquorland etc?

Do the whiskies that the members get actually exclusive and retailing for higher?

Interested to know before I join 🙂

I reckon its a good way of getting exposure to a more wider variety of whiskies not found at like your local bottleshop.

    • Some really interesting independent bottlings and each whisky comes with great tasting notes. Whisky is normally around $130 + $15 shipping with lots of interesting whisky coming up. Costs nothing to join and after your first delivery you can simply opt out every month online until you see something you like. Delivery is timely and the bottles arrive well packed. Customer service is also great if you ever have any issues. Well worth taking a punt!

    • Personally I thought it was better when they used to do whiskies that were available to the public rather than special bottlings. However have had some pretty impressive ones for the $130 mark which isn’t that easy to come by from bottleshops

  • and one for Paz. Enjoy mate!

Someone named Lewis will get a free bottle from me.

Signing up with a referral link, says referee and referee, is it two free Nikka’s (one referal, one bonus) and the bottle this month?

    • Looks like you get a free bottle with your purchase. Then a free bottle on your next order after your referee makes a purchase.

    • Looks like Lewis might be getting two!
