Good advice! And yeah, with Melodyne they apparently send out plenty of discount codes to upgrade from Essential once you have it for a while

Yeah definitely recommend Assistant over Essentials so you can use the full pitch toolkit. I think it's the sweet spot over other editions. Editor is good if you need to pitch instruments, though the occasional time I need this I can do in Logic. Multi tracking and aligning in the studio edition is also a nice to have, however this can be done using Groove tracks in Logic or vocalign (best option and cheaper than buying/upgrading to Studio).
Unfortunately when I needed Melodyne I missed the sales by a few weeks, but picked up Essential edition + Nectar 3 for $24 off Knobcloud. I then bought upgrade from the same seller for $100US.
I should add, Soundtoys 5 is the cheapest I've seen it through JRR shop. $177.10 with the Forum code. $134 more than just getting decapitator, but you get everything, i.e. another 21 plugins. PhaseMistress is also free from their website which I posted a couple of weeks back.
