Selling My Old Electronic Stuff

Hi there,

Over the years, I’ve accumulated some electronic items that I haven’t used in a long time. Most of them are still in good or reasonable condition, so I was wondering if you could suggest platforms where I could sell them, aside from Gumtree, Facebook Marketplace, or eBay.

I came across this website: manmadecycle.com.au. Do you have any experience with them?

Are there any other alternative platforms you would recommend?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Regards,

AmoxPax

Narrowing down "electronic items" might help. Kitchen appliances? Computers? Mobiles? Digital pianos? Consoles? Clocks? Arduinos?

    • Mainly Computers, Mobiles, XBox, iPad and iPod.

Maybe just put them all on Gumbook?

Why don't you want to use the mainstream marketplaces?

  • I'd only recommend the lamestream ones and eBay for anything more obscure/difficult to move.

  • Cex

  • Marketplace is your best bet to sell it fast and to reach mass audiences.

Gumtree is your next move but alot more time wasters and lowballers on gumtree

If you want to avoid such places, your chances of selling may be lengthy but you can try search groups on facebook such as "selling/buying tech Sydney" (if that's a group) but usually marketplace wins.

  • OCAU forums if that still a thing

CeX has been quite good. You can see the sell prices online and don't have to go through time wasting facebook marketplace BS.

Do you really need the money from them, or do you just want to get rid of them and not feel guilty about throwing them in the rubbish?

So recycle them by donating them to a charity shop.

Either they, or the money the shop gets from selling them, goes to people who need it.

    You feel good about yourself.

    • I agree. There’s a time cost to selling them. Easier and better to take it all to the Op Shop with a drive in bay

Exception is rarer consoles like Dreamcast or music equipment, they hold value

have a look on ebay at what they've been selling for. Some of the older stuff might make you a profit. search for it, then do advanced search and click sold items.

I would also choose the marketplace with no buyers to attempt to sell my random low value garbage.

  • so I was wondering if you could suggest platforms

    Platform 2 at Dandenong.

Ask for Aaden and tell him jv sent you….

Household items like clothing and furniture is best to sell on Marketplace. MarketPlace people want stuff at a bargain price or close to free.

If you have electronics or collectors items it's best to sell on ebay. People go to ebay for specific categories. I just setup a 7 day auction to finish on a Sunday afternoon. Just try to add your listing at the right time of the week so it finishes at that time so you don't pay any extra fees.

My sister has been have quick sales with old 80's collectables and toys on MarketPlace. I already told her she would be better off selling them on ebay and make a lot more money but she wants quick cash lol
