Just wanted to rant about the Platypus Shoes rewards program and see if anyone else has had the same issue.
Their rewards program when you sign up clearly states that you will receive $20 off your next purchase if you sign up.
However as soon as you sign up you only receive 100 points (200 points = $20 off). You are actually required to make an additional $100 purchase full price ($1 = 1 point) to get $20 off as promised.
To me this is clear false advertising - as there is no way for your "next purchase" to have $20 off without paying full price first.
Usually this wouldn't bother me as its a pretty minor thing but multiple agents in the live chat/email at Platypus insist it's not false advertising when I asked why I don't have a $20 off coupon and were generally pretty rude about it. I've reported this to NSW Fair Trading/ACCC as false advertising.
Rant over.
I see where you're coming from, as the top banner can be quite misleading, but it doesn't specifically state you'll get $20 straight away for signing up. Reading through the page suggests you can build up to $20 off, which is what they probably mean.
It does clarify the below points on the same page:-
