    That's a great deal.

  • +1

Worth mentioning that the $88 price is only on the blue coloured terra pack. Not the other colours.

    • +1

Weird okay I've added that info thanks !

      Otherwise other colours $128

  • -2

No thanks. Id rather not purchase from a company that exploits the illegally occupied West Bank of Palestine.

    • -5

Good deal though. That’s all I want. :)

    • Good shout

  • +2

    Boycott sodastream

    • Why?
Are they on the Boycott list?

    • +3

Never mind, found them on the list. Thanks for calling it out. Wouldn't have even thought to check that one.

  • One of the most well known Israeli companies making a price for their product $88 whilst the nation is in the middle of performing a genocide is so (profanity) on the nose they have to be trolling.

    • +1

Well they bank on people buying refill cylinders, so get your own big CO2 container and refill yourself. That's one way of showing them.

    • -1

Do you think it's a coincidence or legit they are referencing something?

      • +1

There are multiple things that just seem a little too coincidental. The number 88 and it's supremacist meanings. Terra meaning land or territory. Terra phonetically the same as terror. The product in question is blue and white like a certain flag. Just real wtf.

        • -1

yeah fair, when you put it like that it does seem a bit too much to be unintentional.

  • Made in Israel. BOYCOTT.

  • +6

Do they still have a joint Israeli and Palestinian workforce?

  • +3

    Ordered, great deal

  • Good deal, but crap website

  • +9

Crap product - tried to take over my bench space and killed my toaster in the process

    • +5

      😂😂

    • This actually made me chuckle XD

  • +4

At $88 for that kit they probably are close to breaking even and are relying on people to get the gas refill through them.

If you don't want to support them because of political reasons, you can still get the kit and then get your cylinders refilled through a home brew shop or buy a 2.6kg/6 kg co2 gas cylinder and hook it up direct.

    • +1

Oh. Just doing some googling and came across this. Seems like a good deal at $86 plus shipping? I haven't done a lot of research so can't be 100% whether it's a good price or not, but comparing it to another local shop near me who is charging $170 for the same thing, it seems like a good price even once I add the $40 for shipping. Refills at the shop near me is $67 for 6kg. So
price for SodaStream refill is $50/kg
price for co2 gas cylinder refill is $11/kg

  • +1

Im half Palestinian and even i think this is a good deal!

  • -3

Do all these Palestine groupies jump on to other countries when they are facing war and conflict too?

    • +1

I guess they do since they are on OZbargain

    • +3

Depends on what's happening. For example, a lot of Palestinian rights groups people are also part of indigenous rights groups,

      • -1

of course they are, as I said, groupies jumping on the new bandwagon.

They would never be caught dead jumping on any conflict affecting any South American or African nation though as that would be uncool.

        • +1

Admittedly, you are partly, right, some people jump on the bandwagon, others jumping on because only now are they learning what's happening. and then there are people like me, who have been following the situation for over 20 years.

          • @Aus Falcon: I respect that you have been fighting for the cause for 20 years. It's more the bangwagoners that jump on because some SJW told them to do so on Tiktok.

            • +1

@chadleyshe: What is SJW? ANd yes, Bandwagon people can actually do more harm, because they have no idea what is happening and jump on because it's trending. If they bothered to learn and put some effort it, then they could engage in constructive conversations rather than having shouting contests.

              • +2

@Aus Falcon: Sorry, SJW means social justice warriors. Online term thing used for the loud minorities.

            • +2

@chadleyshe: Everybody's gotta start somewhere. For some that means a new career as a bandwagoneer.
Personally I don't really care how someone arrives at all issue, just so long as it wasn't over the top of a pile of humans in a multi-million dollar death-dealing machine bought & paid for by the peaceniks in the military-industrial complex.

        • +2

"You have to protest literally everything ever or you're just being woke"

    • +2

Also, I think you might be failing to see the stark difference between this "war" and the others. Happy to explain if you want to give me examples to compare to.

    • +1

"Do all these Palestine groupies jump on to other countries when they are facing war and conflict too?"

This is a perfect example of 'whataboutism'.

  • -1

I wouldn't recommend this product. Tried it at a friends house, the carbonation is never consistent, and if you are thinking about buying it to save money, well, it will likely take a year+ to break ever vs just buying discounted soda straight up and by that time, the novelty of it would have worn off and you will start using it less and less.

The canisters/flavours also arent cheap relatively speaking. All-in-all, bad investment imo.

    • +1

Flavours were 40% off until today using code BF40FLAVOURS
However, i saw some were reduced, when i looked at it then.

    • +3

Been using mine for over 2 years now. Saved heaps over buying premade - mix it with cordials and juices and have plain sparkling etc.

    • +2

You tried it once at a friends…
If you used it and understood how to use it, you would realise you can customise how much fizz you want. If you want lightly fizzy water, the gas bottles last ages, and you will make your money back far quicker, and not have to waste so much plastic bottles

      • Nope, they pretty much nailed it. Impressive considering their limited exposure.

A relative bought me one because they could see how much soda & tonic water I was getting through daily.
While soda water was marginally cheaper to produce than store-bought, the carbonation process was inconsistent. The canisters went flat much quicker than even Kirk's or Club Soda brand (the absolute cheapest). After the 2nd canister ran out it was binned.

Had I been given the setup to make flavoured drinks or - worse yet - bought it myself, I would be extremely disappointed.

The fondly-remembered Soda Stream of the mid- to late-80s, with its glass bottles & range of presumably lead-based features, is to the current version what Coca-Cola is to Uncle Sam's HFCS Cola-Derived CO²-Fun-In-a- Can.

        • If you get through that much, and the canister lost pressure, you were 100% doing something wrong. I assume you asked for replacement? Having come from bottled sparkling water, it’s a no brainer given you can use basic equipment. Hook up a bigger gas bottle, and not only are you savings tonnes of waste, but saving tonnes of money.

          • @onlinepred: No & yes. The replacement wasn't any better.

Besides their now-defunct operations on settlement land, they are great for children & people who aren't particularly fussy about their drinks &/or bubbles.

            • +2

@BinaryPirate: You sound like a child, so perhaps you should try it again? And read the instructions this time?

              • -2

Tell your story walking, champ, & thanks letting me know you should be muted sooner rather than later.

                • +3

@BinaryPirate: Lol, compared to you saying they are all bad, based on your experience. ROFL. Grow up buddy

      • -1

I never said "I tried it once" dont put words into my mouth please. I tried it multiple times at a friends house (not only once) and thats how I found the carbonation not to be consistent.

        Not worth the money.

        • I tried a toaster at a friends place once, it burnt my toast, therefore the all Toasters are inconsistent. Not worth the money. —your logic

          • -1

@onlinepred: I just said I didnt say "once". Are you mentally challenged?

            • +2

@Oztx: Oh I've used this toaster a few times, and my toast comes out burnt every time, therefore it's better to buy your toast from a cafe.

    • +1

You can carbonate most liquid tho, like make your own sparkling wine and mineral water. Those two are my most frequent drinks, and water has gradually replaced wine too. I then add spirits and fruity things to the carbonated water to make it really interesting.

      • That's a great idea. I hadn't actually looked at experimenting with alcoholic beverages. I guess this Christmas break coming up will be time to try it out. 🎅

        • +2

To be fair, they don’t want you to carbonate anything other than water, in case it clogs the nose. Just make sure you don’t overload the bottle and clean it afterwards :)

For syrup, I use https://www.wisdomfoods.com.au/. They have a lot of different flavours, and some uses better sweeteners than the rest if that is a concern for you.

          • @Alley Cat: Yeh I was making that mistake first few days of use where I was mixing the syrup with the water and then carbonating and cleaning the tube when finished. Didn't realise until I read the instructions I was meant to be only using water! Ha

The unicorn and mermaid syrup sounds like it'd be sickening sweet! Hah might be good to make a vodka cruiser style drink.

            • @Name:

The unicorn and mermaid syrup sounds like it'd be sickening sweet!

Hahaha I was thinking about getting these, then the adult in me stopped it. For the ones I've tried, they are not very concentrated, nor particularly sweet. I only use about two pumps for 1L water though, that's probably 1/4 of their recommended serving size.

  • -1

    Oh dear

  • +4

I picked up the E-Terra (included co2 bottle and one water bottle) from the goodguys yesterday for $115.

  • +1

Out of the boycott crowd posting here are you also boycotting:
*USA products for their involvement in conflicts in the middle east during the last 30 or so years?
*Chinese products for treatment of Uyghurs, and other issues that they contribute to?
*UAE related products (for example petrol used to power vehicles) for their involvement in Yemen?
*Indian and Pakistani products for ongoing violence between the two countries?
*Russian products (for example certain plywood) for their conflict with Ukraine?

The boycott crowd here… if you have genuine concern for human wellbeing… will you start boycotting products made in or that have contributions from USA, China, UAE, India, Pakistan, Russia? Or are you selective in your compassion?

    • +3

      whataboutism

If you want to know what the "boycott crowed" is focussing on, Google search BDS boycott. I would post the link here, but I am not sure what the rules are for posting that kind of content. It's easy enough to search though.

      • +2

Its not whataboutism. It is asking if the motivation is general human wellbeing or a specific political cause.

        • Human wellbeing, and human rights. And most importantly getting the truth out there.

          • +1

@Aus Falcon: Do you have a double standard when it comes to different people around the world?

            • -1

              @g1: nope, do you?
              What are you implying?
Are you suggesting that if I don't know everything about everything and everyone that I should not care about anything or anyone?

@g1 Let me pose something to you in the same vein.
When you donate to a charity, do you make a donation of equal amounts to every other charity?
When you donate to medical research, do you make a donation of equal amounts to every health issue and disease?
If someone decides to sponsor a child in need, are they then obligated to sponsor all children in need?
If someone volunteers and / or invests in saving a habitat or species, are they then obligated in to saving all habitats and all species?
If a scientist specialises in treating and curing diabetes for mankind, are they then obligated to put equal amounts of effort into curing all cancer variants?

              • +2

@Aus Falcon: You just happen to care more about the anti jewish state promotion? Even though there are atrocities that have caused more deaths and displacement than actions of a jewish state? Even though there are states that have been destroying other nations and their cultures for a long time? So why do you pick the anti jewish cause to support when there are other governments that have caused more damage than the jewish state?

It certainly does seem like you have a double standard.

                • @g1: Why are you implying that I am anti Jewish?
Don't you dare try to put me in a box and try to label me evil.

I am definitely anti NAZI, anti RIGHT WING ZIONISM, and I am most definitely anti ethnic cleansing, and I am especially anti the ethnic cleansing and destruction and occupation of Palestine and Palestinians.

and seriously, if whataboutism is all you have to back your point of view, then you are just proving my point.

If you don't want to make a considerable effort to learn about something, then don't challenge someone who has put in the effort.

    • +3

Maybe they are? Why do you care so much about what other people aren't buying lol

      • +2

You may be right. It may be better to scroll past the selective and targeted political comments on a bargain site. Some people will spread hate unequally when they see an opportunity, including when it comes to a bargain for a sparkling water maker.

    • -2

      What do you think?

Israel are the only ones who aren't allowed to win a war that they didn't start.
Anti-semitism is alive and well in 2024.

      • +2

Equating Anti-Israel with antisemitism is the biggest load of soppy cry-baby crap i've ever heard. By your (lack of) logic, all those in Tel-Aviv protesting against the felon netanyahu should be thrown in jail for antisemitism because theyre criticising the leader of an ethnostate.

        Go have a cry mate.

      • +1

That literally doesn't make any sense.

Technically, the British started it, and if you want to get super specific, Arthur Balfour.

      • +2

Also, just to be clear, ANTI EXTREMIST RIGHT WING ZIONISM, is not in any way shape or form the same as antisemitism or anti-Jewish. It's important that the two are not confused.

      • +1

Ah yes. History started Oct 7 2023.

    • -3

      Pure hypocrisy, as usual.

      • who is / what is hypocrisy?

  • +3

Can people leave their political crap at the door? FFS, it's a product many people can save money using. Nearly everything is mde in China… Do yas carry on about that? Nooooooo. Just support terrorism by boycotting the wrong country. Makes lotsa sense.

    • +1

Engaging isn't compulsory. Besides, it'll all go away when Israel stops committing genocide and leaves Palestine.

    • +2

      Isn't SodaStream owned by PepsiCo?

      • +2

It is. They bought out SodaStream in 2018.

        • +2

Yeah, that's why all the official syrups are PepesiCo's range of soft drinks.

  • +1

This looks like a better deal than the bigw one? I haven’t picked that one up yet. Should I cancel and get this instead?

    • +1

      I would 👍.

It's unlikely big W have the same bundle on offer here

      • +2

Cheers. It’s an extra co2 and two 1l bottles for $38. Guess I have to or lose my ozb licence lol

  • +2

what even is this comment thread? im much happier with my sodaking. support aussie companies.
