Trying to Find Kitchen Faucet Aerator/Housing Fittings in an M18 Male Online and Having a Hard Time - What about AliExpress?

Need to get an new aerator and housing in whatever safe materials/metals for the kitchen sink. It's the nozzle that your water passes through at your sink tap, and can often be unscrewed and fixed/replaced.

Measuring the diameter manually (no calipers here) the 'outie' threads (male) are about 17mm give or take, so that'd be about m18.

Though i'm having trouble finding that size, and need/want a 'quality' silver whatever metal housing and aerator. Because that's the water i drink, yo.

I have found housing+aerator's in that size at aliexpress. Even to just a 18mm to 22mm adapter, if i want to get a fancy 'adjustable flow' housing+aerator locally. Though they have though fancy nozzles selling there and much cheaper.

I don't want chemicals in my water. So i'm willing to pay what i need to, but i'm having trouble finding any of this legitimately online. They might be restricted to plumbers seeing a sites catalogue or parts to keep making that money or sell completely new systems. Or to deter idiots, ymmv.

Are there any plumbing supplies stores or ways to order online? Or is aliexpress going to be fine?

    • That's the one I wanted, but it's to large for the faucet.

    Don't faucet. Just tap it.

  • Just came to sympathise. My place is kitted out with M18 everywhere and it's a massive pain in the butt. I cannot fathom why anyone would use what appears to be completely non-standard and practically impossible to replace without switching out the entire faucet.

Mine was for a weird use case and not drinking water, so I eventually found some junk off AliExpress that did the job, but your best bet might be to speak with a plumbing or kitchen supplies distributor

How does an aerator reduce chemicals in your water?

    • You know how we get plastic products saying 'BPA free'. It's because when water and the like was stored in it, over time, BPA/other chemicals would make it's way into the water, from it's plastic container. A bit like how you can have clothes that bleed dye and get on everything.

I don't want any chemicals from any metal housing I buy online leeching or 'bleeding' into my drinking water.

      • I wonder how many renters are worrying about stuff like this.

  • You want a reverse osmosis filter if you want something that can filter chemicals and trace elements out. A flow controller as you've described wont do that.

    • Nah, I just don't want lead/mercury/whatever leeching from the metal housing I buy online. Filtering the actual water is different.

Then dont buy from Aliexpress. Products that are sold in Australia need to be WaterMarked certified and approved. Anything sold from a big box retailer like Bunnings or trade spec like Reece would carry WaterMark certification and approval

      • Do you mean the tap by "metal housing"? How much chemicals can it possibly leech into your water, it's not made of lead or anything is it?

        • it's not made of lead or anything is it?

          Buying from aliexpress/online, i don't know…..

  • Don;t buy online, go to a Plumbing Supplies store.
