Headphones for Zoom/Team and Gaming

Looking for headphones, over the ear, with mic monitoring, for Zoom and Teams calls with a good boom microphone. I really want clear voice output. I think I want Bluetooth. But if 2.4Ghz better for audio quality? Both input (audio through to my ears) and output (mic)?

If like to stay under $200. But really need good mic audio.

Its actually hard to get a good headphone for Teams as most popular headphones/earphones are focusing on what your hear instead of how you sound like.

Stay away from TWS as I have not heard any good microphones from TWS and every time someone joins a meeting with any brand of TWS they would either sound really bad/choppy due to the wireless interference between the 2 or just overly aggressive noise cancellation. This is also reflected on various YT reviews.

I would suggest you try to find the reviews of the headphones/earphones thst you are interested in on RTINGS website and scroll through the "Recording Quality" section.

But dont forget that mic quality is not all you need cause you also need good mic monitoring/sidetone.

So, far the best microphone + mic monitoring headphones I've ever had is Turtlebeach Stealth 700 Gen 2. I used that throughout most of the pandemic but the headband cracked.

I upgraded to Audeze Maxwell and even though the mic is so good, the sidetone is noisy/crackly. I kept it because of the sound quality.

I haven't found anything as good as the 700 Gen 2. The 700 Gen 2 Max and 700 Gen 3 are not as good.

Maybe 600 Gen 3 sounds really close but I never tried it myself. I've tried Blackshark v2 Hyperspeed which has nice sounding Mic but non-existent Sidetone so i returned it.

This is a review that showcases really well the mic of 700 Gen 2. This reviewer also reviews other headphones so you can easily compare with other headphones he's tested.

    • Thanks for that!
Listening to the audio test here: https://youtu.be/g9gWs0YZ5Jw?t=763
      Seems good.

I'm tossing up between that and the Razor Blackshark V2.
      Sounds seems impressive.

      • Blackshark V2 Pro or Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed?

I did try the Hyperspeed but was not happy with the sidetone and returned it.

  • Maybe the top model of plantronics? They have been making headset (for office purposes not music) for ages. Surely decent.

    Or jabra.

Yeah Jabra Evolve series have great mic.

These office headsets usually focus on mic quality, noise cancellation and sidetone.

The downside is that most of them are usually "on-ear".

ah missed that OP requirement … yeah im using plantronics voyager 5200, no one complaining about my voice, they couldnt hear my background music played but just my voice.

  • Razor Opus X
    Logitech G435 lightspeed

    • Do these have sidetone?

      • No

OP is looking for mic monitoring (sidetone)

          • @meong: No, it does have mic monitoring. Most modern gaming headphones will have it built in.

            • @freeb1e4me: Not always though. I have tested many.razer kaira for example, the mic monitoring is non existent
