30 Days Visa-Free Entry to China for Australian & New Zealand Passport Holders

3808

Thank you Scrooge McDeal for the original 15 day deal.

Good news for travelers from the many countries benefiting from China’s unilateral visa-free policy: from November 30, 2024, visa-free stays in China will be extended to 30 days, instead of the current 15.

Also good news for me as I was planning a bit longer trip to China early next year and was dreading the visa application process.

These are now the current countries enjoying the 30 day visa free entry:

Andorra
Australia
Austria
Belgium
Brunei
Bulgaria
Croatia
Cyprus
Denmark
Estonia
Finland
France
Germany
Greece
Hungary
Iceland
Ireland
Italy
Japan
Latvia
Liechtenstein
Luxembourg
Malaysia
Malta
Monaco
Montenegro
Netherlands
New Zealand
North Macedonia
Norway
Poland
Portugal
Romania
Slovakia
Slovenia
South Korea
Spain
Switzerland

                  • @TightAl: Indeed I was not, like many other people who were born overseas. Like Tony Abbot, Julia Gillard. What does that have to do with anything? I never came as an international student if that’s what you are getting at.

        • No need to fly overseas for that, you can just visit Melbourne, catch a train to collingwood and take a tour of the free injection room. Rats, holes, roach, hobos, take your pick.

          • @Frozensage: Well that’s Melbourne, I don’t agree with that and I don’t live in Victoria. Should be closed down, but it’s a different topic. They don’t kill near extinct animals in 35 degree heat with no ice or refrigeration, next to other animal species.

  • +2

    Yeah, nah.

  • Perfect! Thanks OP.

30 days would be great to visit a couple of places in China.

    Can’t wait!

  • +5

It's a bit offputting how every positive post is exactly the same format - "I just went there recently and everything was a utopian paradise, contrary to western media! Here are all the details about the perfect safety and highly specific details about the amazing and perfect public transport!".

I've known enough Chinese people to know none of it is true.

    • You think its bots or just 50c army? I would love to know how forum can still be botted in 2024….

    • +2

Because they're singing from the same songsheet.

      https://www.aspi.org.au/report/singing-ccps-songsheet

    • Exactly my thoughts. They just don’t get that this kind of mindless botting is the reason everyone hates China and the government. Even the smartest people in China think this wolf like diplomacy makes them look good it makes them look so bad and they just don’t get it.

    • +4

Lol Funny you said that because all the anti-China comments here (and everywhere else for that matter) are the same. Blah blah, something about pollution, Commie this or that, Taiwan, blah blah…
      Come on.

      • +1

Actually there are so many more critical points and most people don’t even mention taiwan. Pollution is horrible, and Chinese don’t even like Chinese food they try to buy overseas as much as possible like Australian. Because everything is laced with chemicals. Look at various food scandals over the years. Baby milk powder etc..

      • the irony is lost on them. there's a handful of anti-chinese posters on here and they are posting almost the exact same content on every visa/EV thread with religious fervour

  • +2

came here for the weekend keyboard warrior picking fights, did not disappoint

  • Stop persecution of Fulang Gong!!!

    • +2

might help to get the name of the cult right. it's basically a temu version of scientology

      • +1

Don't forget they are curing cancer with black magic lol

  • +5

Almost any country in South East Asia would be nicer to visit than this police state. It's dirty, polluted, unfriendly and autocratic. Generally safer in terms of crime in fairness, but without rule of law it's a no-go location for now. I'm sure this comment will be voted down by the swarms of brainwashed stooges sent to combat the truth.

Hard to know if it's just the brainwashed indoctrination they get in school that blocks out critical thinking skills, bot farms or orgs like the United Front. I suspect a mix of everything.

    • When was the last time you went?

    • +1

Spot on had the exact same experience and all the CCP sheeples downvoting every negative comment shows you exactly WHY everyone hates China. Like what country actually loves China? Nobody…

    • Tourist money will ultimately funnel resources to the CCP, indirectly supporting suppression of freedom, wars, etc. etc. Also they are free to ban Australian imports at will.

  • +1

Used 15 days visa free in September for Chengdu, Emeishan and Chongqing. Absoutely loved it!

    • Did you end up saying one Chinese word or used chopsticks… The locals are very impressed with that.

  • For mother china

Anyone remember Command and Conquer Generals?

    • Sure do, those were the good old days of PC only gaming. No crappy console versions were released.

      • Good stuff

    不用去签证中心续Q2签证了~

    • -2

Is funny they still got crap english after all these years

      • lol just for fun, my english proficiency might not be as good as native speakers, but good enough to survive and find a decent job.

        • 做賣國賊又入澳洲籍英文又不學好

In my recent visit in some of the local street markets there - many tend to stare a lot - lol

And when in close proximity, some unsolicited-ly touch and glide their hands on my arms - with my partner right there lol. Don’t wear sleeveless tops.

    • +1

Oh yes very true, had the same experience with the touching. Weird…

      • Some were asking some weird questions or remarks like ‘too big’ and ‘marry daughter?’ (lol - my partner wasn’t amused)

        • lol yea I got the married married and big arms a few times and touching my biceps and stroking my back

    • my sisters are blonde and they got a lot of stares in china & HK

      • +2

Lmao plenty of blonde blue eye expats living in HK, as if you are special LOL

        • Maybe they are extra special.
Let’s not be too Tight, Ai :)

Great country to visit top tier infrastructure (payment systems and transportation) anyone saying otherwise hasn’t even been there (or even beyond Bali at most) Great food and people are chill as. Not even pro China just the fakeness of the anti Chinese rhetoric is unreal go see it urself if you haven’t already then make ur own opinion.

    • +2

I have been multiple times for business and pleasure and none of the things you said are true. People are NOT chill lol. The payment system exists in many other Asian countries like Singapore etc (barcode) and foreigners can actually use that easily with through wise. Food is fine but you can get the same with higher quality ingredients outside of China. Think Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan. Food quality is dodgy.

      • +2

When were you last there? Food was way fresher than say Japan (fruit and veg) and much cheaper than Singapore. I mean saying this as a Sydney sider we have excellent food and produce in Aus people might take for granted and Chinese food in terms of freshness was excellent. The everyday people you encounter on the street are super chill and helpful, might be different if you’re doing business with white collar Chinese but my experience was great.

    • payment systems

Top reason to visit a country lol. I often marvel at the payment system of other countries.

  • +5

How about the other 188 countries that Australian can travel to with our visa? Can you post that too?

    • +1

How’s your neg relevant to China?

Also, I think you meant ‘our passport’.

      • +1

easy to trigger the china haters, just make any post on visa, chinese EV or chinese tours and they will come frothing at the mouth. my favourite ozb entertainment after the traffic infringements and 'where to invest my inheritance' posts

        • +5

China hate, you are mistaken people’s view on a party (in this case the only party therefore the government) as hate or racism towards a country.

If you want to know what real hate is, CCP does it well. There are real hate towards average American, Japanese and Jews. Not towards the government but average people.

          • +1

@spc12go: not really, the anti-china posts don't usually discriminate if you care to trawl through it. also easy to justify casual racism by linking anything you don't like to CCP.

      • +7

This is not a bargain, it belongs to the forum. Our passport allows us to travel to 189 countries. Why not list them all as individual posts?

        • Fair enough - it’s a little on the PSA - but can also be seen as a (current) saving to obtain a visa to potential travellers.

Maybe take the initiative to list the countries?

  • +6

China supports Russia's war in Ukraine, even as Russia repeatedly threatens the world with nuclear armaggedon.

Why would you support such a nation?

    • +1

Absolutely!! Plus they now have a pact which also inc North Korea! No thanks…

  • +4

Why would I want to visit Russia and North Korea's greatest ally?

  • +2

Kinda strange this is considered a deal though

  • +7

The wumao pushing this ""deal"" hard in the comments, and mass-negging any dissenters lmao.

Why don't the wumao talk about China's support for Iran? and North Korea? And Russia?

    • I know I didn’t know there is so many CCP bargainers lol.😂 it’s laughable. Why are Chinese migrating out of china in the millions literally crossing the most deadly desert in the world to reach the United States illegally when it’s this utopia. It’s so ridicules, and they wonder why nobody likes them lol

    • the truth is most people don't care about the politics and want to see the world free from political ideologies and the votes reflects this. if you choose to believe the CCP bots have invaded ozb because we are a critically important political platform and that all the 200 odd posters/voters that don't agree with you are bots then good for you if it helps you feel better

      • +5

No nobody invaded it’s just Chinese ozbargainers being super butthurt when you dare to question winnie poo.. it’s not hundreds from what I see only 10-20 people consistently downvoting only critical stuff which is fine. Everyone can see it for what it is.

        • there's 265 up votes at the last count..

      • Most people want to see the world free from war but China continues to sponsor war efforts while preparing for a conquest of their own in Taiwan.

Stop trying to mask your true colours.

  • 你好,how are u a?

  • +1

Do you all stop travelling to the countries whose politics you disagree with? So many people will boycott the US from the next year too I assume?

Very strange to see some other dictatorship or authoritarian countries mentioned as alternatives because China is authoritarian!

    • +1

USA is not comparable to china in any way. You have checks and balances in the United States that prevent one person from doing exactly what xi Jinping has done in China. Trumps first term was actually uneventful despite what everyone said before. The second term will be too. Meanwhile china is in full blown economic meltdown because of the incompetence of xi jinping and the government intervening in the economy which is always the downfall of all socialist countries

      • Hopefully it will be uneventful, but he spent his first term pushing out experienced people who performed the checks and balances. Up to the point of inciting riots to block his own VP.

Everyone joining him for a second term is on board with what happened there, so they won't be getting in the way quite as much this time.

    • +1

You think sponsoring a madman's conquest and protecting a war-mongering nation from sanctions is just a matter of "politics you disagree with"?

Is this how Chinese people are conditioned to think? Do you not have an inkling of humanity left in you?

      • +1

i don't think you should be so harsh on Trump, he means well

      • I'm going to Jordan, UAE and Turkey in January, all autocracies, so yeah according to you, I don't have an inkling of humanity left in me (along with all other tourists going to certain countries).

        • All those are so much better than china even UAE feels like total freedom in comparison to China. From entering the country to talking to the locals. Very open minded, speaking English, internet is mostly free nothing like Chinese internet which is a total shit show

    • Yes I’m boycotting US and Tesla because of Trump and Musk. I don’t agree with the crap they dish out.

  • so can any ozbargainers here host an AMA session on ' road to the red hell:
how the commies detained and tortured an aussie'

    • +1

Yes jailing Australian journalists for doing what? Oh yes being journalists😂 great country indeed

  • +2

China is supporting Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

    • +4

And America is supporting Israel’s invasion of everyone. And then condemn ppl who doesn’t like Jews. Cry me a river. Lets just call it what it is.

      • +1

Israel is fighting two terrorist organizations and exchanging missile attacks with Iran, who sponsor terrorist attacks on Israel.

How is this even remotely equivalent to Russia conducting a large scale invasion of a sovereign nation in Ukraine? Surely you can explain yourself here.

      • -1

And australia is supporting america invasion of everyone

        • -1

          invasion of everyone

This is the second time you wumao shills have used this embarrassing line. Come up with some new material please.

  • +3

Should I be surprised anything posted with the mention of China get political?

    • +3

Anything Chinese. The usual suspects spam the same thing.

      • So why do people like you refuse to address China's support for Russia's invasion?

Screeching spam only makes you look like a fool. Why should anyone here visit a nation that supports invasions in the 21st century?

        • +5

It’s a bargain site. Take a chill pill and get some sun

          • +1

@Frozensage: First you ask people to "Lets just call it what it is."
Yet you refuse to do the same with China.

Perhaps you're not telling us something?

          • @Frozensage: Don't worry, the mods made sure to that. They are in the penalty box

        • +1

          Because it's a bargain site, not a politics site…

          • @yycan: So through that line of reasoning, if a neo-nazi business started selling nazi memorabilia at half price, you would think it's fair game to post on ozbargain?

            • +1

@Cmatthew: what a stupid analogy, it's a deal on free tourist visa, not on communist propaganda material

    • +1

Russia’s GDP is only equivalent to that of Guangdong Province in China. Without China’s support, it would have been impossible for Russia to sustain its invasion war until now. Without the war, there would be no need to pay such high fuel prices or deal with inflation.

The invasion of a nuclear-armed country in the 21st century into a European region will have a massive negative impact on the global economy and people’s lives.

      • +2

You could say the exact same line for Aussie support of Israel's genocide. An illegal nuclear country invading into multiple fronts into the Middle East. ICC just issued arrest warrants for Israel leaders yet most people here are brainwashed to ONLY focus on Russia. Hypocritical much?

  • China’s economy is in serious decline, and recently, incidents of social retaliation have been occurring frequently. BBC News Link:https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cwy1k2rx724o.amp

    • +1

Yes very true and nice bringing that up. The car rampage and school killings due to exam stress is a great example of the great unraveling of the Chinese economy. Many economists predicted this as the government is intervening so much in the local economy it always ends up in a huge crash.

      • In a country, if the unemployment rate rises by 1%, the number of unnatural deaths will also increase. Given China’s population size, this would mean millions of deaths.

        • +1

I don’t know what that means but I didn’t say anything about unemployment going up. Chinas economy is going down fast that’s a fact already and the real number is probably much worse than the numbers CCP is giving us.

  • +1

Can mods come clean this post up? It’s hard to weed out all these comments have nothing to do with the deal.

    • China’s economy is in serious decline, and recently, incidents of social retaliation have been occurring frequently. BBC News Link:https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cwy1k2rx724o.amp

      • +1

        Big BS Company for news?

Same BBC echoing Russia out of weapons since start of the war.

Man you drink too much Cool-Aid.

  • E mindful tjat you could be rejected at the immigration at the airport if you do not have very clear why you are coming to China. It already happened. So, plan it well.

Also, it is required to report your residential address to local police offices, unless you stay at hotels, which would aotomatically report to local police office.

    • True, very hostile atmosphere of having to be registered at every accomodation like some felon out on probation. Another good reason I don’t go. At the airport they pretend you are entering some holy land, when the departure lane is filled with people running away from china.

  • Wow this is awesome.

Definitely will think about a bigger trip next year.

  • +1

Reading all the comments here just made my day!!

    • I love that these are always posted on a Saturday morning - for maximum hilarity. good comedy value

      • +1

        Happy Saturday!

  • Just visited Beijing and is pretty nice, but 2 weeks wasn't enough for me to visit other cities via the high speed rail. If this remains permanent, might spend a month to next time.

Always a vocal racist minority that persists in every forum. To these folks, go complain somewhere else.
