Kitchen Hacks, less clutter

Meat grinder, deli slicer, juicer, sandwich maker and lots more I had all this crap stuffed under my kitchen bench and wherever I could find a place to store it. Most of this stuff I'd use once every 3 years and then some.
I've bought attachments for my stand mixer that can do most of these things and they seem to work better than a standalone space hog items much to my amazement, and have gained a heap of space back. Now I'm throwing out utensils from the 2nd top draw
I'm just wondering if people have come to a point where there's way too much clutter, and you have to bite the bullet and start throwing stuff out and what you did?
I hate selling stuff I'm a buyer not a seller.

We put a lot of things into a box and took things out as needed. After a period of time, the rest went to the Salvos.

Many items can be used for multiple purposes. As an example, you can make grilled cheese sandwiches in a cast iron pan.

    • We did this too. It's a great method

Shelves and plastic tubs (to keep dust and nasties out), in your shed. Having lots of shelves and clear tubs will protect your items and make them much easier to sell because you can browse your collection and just pull any item out. If you rent you may not want to invest in a storage system you can't take with you to a smaller rental in the future.

After 3 moves Im down to a slow cooker and a pan/pot set. I found after everything being in storage for 2 years, we didn't actually need it or use it.

  • I sometimes think about the days when I had a different cup/glass/spoon for different things I drink, a different pot for different things I cook, and different plates for the food I serve. Once I ditched that lifestyle, I have found I had a lot more time to do other things, and my body actually really love simple food.

I currently live on a pair of shears, one stainless steel pan, one wooden spatula, a kettle and some bowls and plates. Have other utensils that I'm considering getting rid of, since I haven't really touched them for a while. The shears have replaced the chopping board and knives.

I don't really get the question. How did I get rid of the stuff?

I live in an absolutely tiny house. I'd say 95% of houses in Australia are bigger than mine. At some point, you have to bite the bullet and sell stuff or throw stuff away. Facebook marketplace is the best. If not worth selling, advertise it for free.

Then, reorganize cupboards, closets, pantry and fridge. For example, I have an airfryer but keep it in the hallway closet because it's not used often enough to keep it in the kitchen. Same goes for juicer, blender, etc.

Giving good quality stuff to the Op Shop is a good way to declutter. Also if you have friends with children about to move into their own place you could see what they want.

When we built our place we put in deeper bench tops so my common appliances sit ready to go. I just bring them forward when I need them.

Since we hit the InstantPot we do tend to use a lot less standards pots.

  • Less clutter, more inconvenience.
