Hey guys, should I buy a used tab s9 right now for $550 or wait until s10 is released in Jan next yr? Saw the s8 drop to <500 mid year this year and hoping for the same.

I'd just buy it now. The s10 is unlikely to change much and tablets have been pretty standard for many years now.
Disagree with the first poster though, the tab s9 is a much bigger upgrade over s8 and is probably the best tablet money can buy. OLED screen is gorgeous.

The rate of innovation in the consumer electronics space seems to be really slow right now. The changes from the tab s8 to s9 series was a slightly brighter screen, and a processor upgrade. The changes from the s9 to s10 series is just the anti reflective coating on the screen and a processor upgrade.
So I suggest if you need the tablet right now, and you are happy with the $550 price to just buy it, unless you really need the anti reflective coating or the faster processor or want the s pen. If you don't need it that urgently, you can wait for the s10 to come out and the price of used s9 will probably reduce further.
