Original Coupon Deal

Widely regarded as the 4K UHD player that hits the sweetspot of excellent quality playback and price. Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support, HDR Optimiser, and a great upscaler for 1080p discs.

This price is not as low as it went around this time last year, but it is still a decent deal for a niche market item.

There is no difference in price using the SAVEBF or PLUS120 discount code, except the latter is only for ebay plus members. No expiry date mentioned on this pricing, but likely ends after Cyber Monday.

  • Ahhh….the memories…….shiny disc things.

  • Any chance there’ll be a better Ebay coupon?

    • I was hoping the BF 2420 / BF2422 coupon from this deal might have been usable, but its pretty limited in what it applies to. Not sure if we'll get anything more to reduce the price further, but it's possible something will come up.

  • I have this machine. Something wrong with Panasonic's software. After inserting disc, many times it just shuts off by itself.

Not just this one, I have a 450 model as well and it does the same thing. My Sony 800X2 doesn't do it.

    • Do you mean if you leave it idle/paused? If so, yes I believe there is a 15-minute power saving timer that can’t be disabled. I agree it’s annoying.

      • Nope. Straight after inserting the disc. While I turn on my projector and my AV recievers.

But not just the 820, my 450 does the same thing as I said. Only Panasonic does it. Not other brands.

You sure it isn’t something related to HDMI-CEC?

        • +1

Sounds like a HDMI CEC thing. I have had this player for about 6 months now. Hands down the best Blu Ray player I have used.

Sucks at streaming and playing off a local file share though.

This is the best featured player for it's price point. But no 4k player is perfect. For whatever reason there are rare occasions when some discs just don't like to play on some players. Handy if you have PS5 or and Xbox as a backup to play the disc.

"No expiry date mentioned on this pricing, but likely ends after Cyber Monday"

On TGG website it says this pricing ($538 pre-eBay coupon) will last until 2nd Dec

Cheers. The coupon might be invalid before then, but good to know.

How much better will this look and sound compared to a PS5 for 4K movies on a LG 77 inch OLED with KEF LS50 IIs? I’m a stickler for video and audio quality, but only if the difference will be noticeable for $500.

    • +1

You’ll get Dolby Vision support which will make a difference visually, and HDR Optimiser which most people online agree is better than LG’s dynamic tone mapping.

I went from watching on a PS5 to this unit and I'm glad I did. The quality difference on my G3 is very notificable and I swear the audio quality is better, too.

Watching some movies, like Inception, felt like I was watching it for the first time again, but better.

  • This or an old XBox?

  • +$150 delivery. Lol

    • To where? Showing as $10 for me in metro Melbourne

I went to JB for a price match and they did $480 in-store. Plus 3.5% discount on JB gift card via NIB Rewards for a final price of $463.20.
