Advice Needed Please on Getting a 2nd Monitor/Screen That Pairs with LG 27UK850-W

Hi Guys,

I currently have the following setup at home:

2018 MacBook Pro Laptop, connected to:
Monitor 1 - LG 27UK850-W (I appreciate this monitor for its borderless design and USB-C connectivity, which I purchased alongside the Mac)
Monitor 2 - Dell P2418HZm (This monitor measures 23.8 inches and lacks USB-C support).

I have utilised this configuration for several years, having acquired the Dell monitor during the pandemic from my workplace.

As I am now engaged in a home-based business, I find myself using my Mac and this setup more frequently. However, I am experiencing discomfort due to the disparity in screen sizes—the LG is 27 inches while the Dell is 23.8 inches. Additionally, I must connect the Dell monitor using a lengthy HDMI cable, which links to a dongle for the Mac.

With Black Friday on, I am considering replacing the Dell monitor with another 27-inch display to enhance my workflow and reduce eye strain.

Should I opt for another LG 27UK850-W, or are there alternative options available for under $200?

My requirements are as follows:
- A 27-inch monitor with a borderless design or a thinner bezel
- USB-C connectivity to facilitate a direct connection to the second screen
- If considering a different brand, it should integrate seamlessly with the LG monitor
- A smaller stand would be preferable, as the LG's stand occupies considerable desk space, which is limited in my setup
- Budget approximately $200. Can go up another $50 if required.

Thanks

sell it and buy a matched pair

    • Thanks kind of makes sense

From a quick look, it is reasonably similar to other 27" monitors. I have a Viewsonic/Dell monitor and they are close enough in design that it doesn't bother me.

There is one minor irritation with the Dell turning on faster than the Viewsonic. If you want them to be similar, buying a second identical monitor would be better.

Have you thought about a monitor arm to solve the issue of desk space? Most users here recommend two single arms over a dual arm.

    • Thanks. Just looked at the arms. Sound like a great idea! Thank you. I’ll go with the same monitor + arm!

You may also consider selling both and getting a refurbished 34" curved display, such as this one. Your total screen real estate will be less than 2 x 27" but it's a more seamless experience.

    • This is interesting. Wondering if I can split my workflow with this widescreen. Assuming it would be a yes.
