Interestingly Choice names Fairy as a brand to avoid as it shared last place with a bunch of others scoring 60%.

The top performers were two Tandil Ultra variants from ALDI scoring 90%. Morning Fresh was a recommended pick at 75%.

      • Morning Fresh actually gets 70%. Apparently the same as basic Woolies brand 1L

I don't agree with this being "Recommended" either. It's kinda shit and find I need to use a lot more of it + scrub harder to get results.

Choice hasn't given us much details about how they grade this except "rounded to nearest 5% from scrub test" so it's not what I would base my decisions off.

Also amusing how the Original Fairy supposedly gets 70% while the antibacterial gets 60%.

Oh right, it's Morning Fresh Ultimate Power that got 75%.

They consistently dirty plates with different foods, soak and scrub a set number of times and look at how clean the plates are.

The value of these tests is the consistency - they're comparing multiple liquids with the same cleaning load - a controlled variable.

Anecdotal reports from consumers likely span weeks with different loads and is more prone to negativity bias - they'd remember the loads that were difficult rather than the loads that were easy even if the loads were different.

However everyone's cleaning loads are different so it's definitely possible that something that Choice rates higher doesn't work as well as a lower-rated one, for an individual's cleaning load so YMMV. I'd still use it as a general guide myself.

Also amusing how the Original Fairy(choice.com.au) supposedly gets 70% while the antibacterial gets 60%.

They'd be different formulations so I'm not surprised. Even the ALDI ones they tested have different scores.
