What Email Newsletters Do You Read Regularly?

Well, I thought for sure Email newsletters were going to be a part of the past but they've come back in style the past few years. Newsletters like The Sizzle and others even have a paid subscription.

So what are your go to email newsletters , like the ones you actually read (not the ones you delete or skim)?

Link to the newsletter and briefly explain what it is in the comments.

  • Deals

    • OzBargain Newsletter Obviously! Top deals, comps, forums posts from the previous 24 hours.
    • HotUKDeals Top UK deals from the previous 24 hours & highlighted deals.
    • MyDealz Top German deals from the previous 24 hours & highlighted deals.

Find it interesting to see what's trending on other bargains site. Interestingly enough, the bargains are very similar as well as the comments. I subscribe to Slickdeals, US bargain site but not as interesting so just skim them.

  • News

    • 1440 News A summary of all the news. It is US based so many of the stories are US focussed but it does cover world news, sport & science and links to more in-depth stories.
  • Finance

    • Alts Long read newsletter of alternative assets as well as opportunities on how to invest. Some interesting ones: Horror Movies, Rebadging Cars under different names. Written mostly by a Melbourne based author.
    • Quiver Quantitative, The site mainly tracks US politicians investments portfolio as well as lobbyist and company insiders. The newsletter sums up any interesting recent portfolio changes. US politicians beat the S&P/market for some reason….
  • Other

There are more specific ones for overseas sports teams and local ones which are probably not really applicable for everyone else.

Let's see some suggestions. Maybe some science, history, world news, a language one?

Does price hipster daily roundup count?

    • +1

Yeah. I'm subscribed to that but the products are so random, that I end up just quickly skimming.

      • I always scan through throughly lol - never know when you’ll find the next big bargain upvote magnet

Apparently, TLDR daily "newsletter for techies" is a popular & growing newsletter for technology-related news.

Looks good. Took a read of the latest issue and haven't heard of most of the news so + for me.

      • Wow…you still find the time to read, when you're not busy with OzB ?

I've still got my decades-old soft spot for Slashdot and occasionally read HackerNews,
but a lot of time post-C*v!d has been spent reading current affairs happenings on Reddit or on TG or on SubStack too.

Wow…you still find the time to read, when you're not busy with OzB ?

Ha, not really. I read out loud my long form emails to my baby son after breakfast.

None. If I get anything that even remotely resembles a “newsletter” touch my inbox, first thing I go for is the “unsubscribe” link, then the “move all from this sender to trash” option.

They might be novel the first few newsletters, but then it just gets nauseating. I prefer to get my information from whatever site I need, when I need. That way I can ingest the information on my own terms and not feel like I am having it force fed to me.

And you say people pay for this “spam”? Yikes.

  • Forget the email proviso, what printed newsletters are y'all reading?

    • MAGA Saga.

    • Yeah, remember all the free local News Corp papers we used to get delivered with mail? Miss those and the MX you'd find in the city.

  • My gym sends a monthly newsletter on updates which I appreciate.

Otherwise everything else is just spam. Never found a good newsletter that is actually useful and isn't filled with terrible advertising.

  • The Crux newsletter - IT focus
    https://pivotnine.com/newsletter/

India focused but generally informative financial newsletter
    https://finshots.in/archive/

Experimental History - psychology but good thought provoking articles
    https://substack.com/@experimentalhistory

  • Any Australian news newsletters? I was subscribed to Crikey but found it negative and political.

  • None lately, I used to read goautonews regularly
    .

  • Big fan of The Sizzle - daily tech newsletter, good focus on Australian news and global stuff.

The writer often post deals for his newsletter here

Even without the deal I'd recommend it!!
