Good price for box set of Diary of a Minecraft Zombie. Yes the content is drivel, but my son loved the first few and encourages reading so seems like a good price in time for Christmas.

Listed as $200 RRP, but can be found usually for <$100.

Listed as same price on MyDeal and Woolworths Marketplace, but they all are the same store on the backend. Big W allows for Everyday Rewards 10% discount if you haven't used yours this month too.

    Yes the content is drivel

I beg to differ. I'm a dad who loves reading to my kids and also happen to be a qualified librarian (and have worked in big libraries). I was actually pretty happy reading one of these when my young dude brought it home from school.

It was infinitely better than the 'Boy vs beast' series (I refuse to read any more of that dreadful garbage, that could have been written by a Temu AI.)

A tempting deal. Thanks for sharing OP.

    • It's good to hear that feedback.

Where would you say that these stand for a 10 year old? I fear my 10 year old son might be a bit past these. My 7 year old would love them though (very advanced reader)

      • Probably great for an advanced 7 year old (my little dude was 6 when I was reading it to him). Depends on the 10 year old. I'd probably suggest that you google it and see if you can find more feedback.

      • My 6-7yo started reading these to himself - so I'd say a bit average for a 10YO. Obviously ymmv depending on your child's ability.
Off topic - Stay away from the Max Brooks Minecraft book. It is slow and boring as all get out.

    • This is good to know. I felt like it was reading fast food level of books, but I guess this is expected for a kids book. It's my first "real" novel type book I've been reading with my 5yo that isn't a picture book so guess I was not sure what to expect. I'll feel better now reading the rest :)

      • I think they're designed to get boys-who-aren't-that-into-reading (and often don't get into it later than girls) into reading.

So yeah, they're definitely like junk food, to help them get a taste for reading.

  • I agree, the writing is absolute drivel. My son loves these books though, so it's a good find OP!

  • Thanks OP. Bought for 8 and 10 year old. Should last them a couple of weeks. Any one have other recommendations for books for kids who love to read. I'm talking about 1 to 2 hours a night reading kind of level

Wings of fire books and graphic novels are good. Diary of a wimpy kid has been a hit, as was the roald dahl series. Harry Potter, C.S Lewis lion witch, series of unfortunate events…
