Garmin 1040 has been getting all the 1050 updates so still an excellent cycling GPS unit with all the bells and whistles. Good deal if you are looking for a large screen device and a radar light.

it has limited buttons so if a cracked screen is likely id probably stick with a full button model. that said i have no issues at all with the touchscreen rain or shine its perfectly responsive. i use it road and gravel but nothing too hectic
Curious as to why you would need the 1040 for motorbike unless you want to measure your heart rate.
Good for road, gravel, MTB bicycle riding. But not for motorbikes
The radar is excellent. Good headunit if you’re happy with its size and weight. The newer 1050 has a bell feature. The 1040 does not.
1040 also has nearly double the battery life over the 1050
Good deal, I found the 1040 to be a big upgrade from my 530. Recall the latter wouldn't reroute properly if I made even a minor deviation from my loaded routes (think this was a design limitation of the 530, 830, 1030 series), and the larger screen is helpful for more data fields, bigger map (which you can also load 6 data fields via Mapdashboard), and Climbpro without a route loaded is nice too - pace the climb and send it with 20-30m elevation to go. The firmware can be a bit buggy (Garmin is seemingly perpetually fixing, improving and breaking features) but generally it just works pretty well.
And Varias are Varias - crazy how they still sell the old model with MicroUSB, it takes a decent while to charge, doesn't have amazing battery life (I'd estimate about 5 hours), but otherwise universally acclaimed for safety/awareness.
How tough is this?
Good for just road riding or off road? Motorbike?
