Do you have log into the game with your Netflix account?

      "NETFLIX MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED."
      In app description and post

There's actually quite a good selection of games on Android with a netflix account, definitely worth checking out. I would recommend into the breach if you haven't played it.

It's a bit frustrating though that there's no way to play these without netflix, and some of these have had the non netflix versions removed from the play store.

+1 for into the breach, great game indeed. Dead cells is another.

      • +1

They actually have a very good selection overall. There's not a lot of filler there (although I'm not a fan of most of their games made as tie-ins to their various shows) - got to give them credit for being reasonably selective.

Low-key one of the greatest mobile games of all time. Crazy that it doesn't get more attention.

Great wide range of age appeal. My kid plays it (13 yrs old) and my parents play (70+ yrs).

    Truly amazing game.

    • Agree. My 9yo also loves it, so we can extend the age range a bit :)

I almost never play mobile games (none currently installed on my phone), let alone finish them, and MV 1 and 2 were the only ones I couldn't stop playing.

So happy there's a new one coming up :)

    • Should I start with no1 or better experience with one of the sequels?

      • +2

They're all great and not very long, just over an hour each so it's worth starting from the first.

    • +4

      Agreed
I hit the big 70 this year and I love it. Didn't know there was a v3 coming out. Thanks for the heads-up.
I hope it's available outside the Netflix system. I noticed the Netflix version is on the Play store, but not the general public one.

Whoever you are, whoever you think you are, believe that you're also a silent princess. Your name is Ida. Your journey is one through a forgotten landscape of twisting staircases and morphing castles, atop floating stones defiantly crossing an angry sea, within dimly-lit caverns cobwebbed with ruins M.C. Escher could only grasp at in a dream state.

Good games. Remind me a bit of Echochrome on the PS3 back in the day.

    • +1

+1 for Echochrome, one of my favourites.

Didn't know v3 was coming up. Thanks OP. Have played 1 and 2. Amazing games and beautiful music.

    • Same! Didn't know they're releasing the third installment.

I never play mobile games but 1 and 2 are amazing and so relaxing to listen to the music and play.

  • Beautiful game with great puzzles.

  • Do you lose these games if you decide to cancel your Netflix subscription?

    • +1

you require to sign into netflix when you play the games, so yes

      • Sign in every time?

        • +1

Yes. When you start the game it pops up the same screen you see when you log into Netflix ie the "who's watching" one where you select your profile. I'm not sure if they work if you're offline or not. You can download Netflix videos to watch offline so I assume the games would work, too, but haven't tested it myself.

  • Family loved monument valley 1 and 2. Disappointed there isn't an option to buy without Netflix account. I won't be signing up to Netflix to play a mobile game

    • +1

There is - you just search for Monument Valley (without the Netflix part). E.g. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ustwo.monu… ($5.99)

      • It's not the case for all Netflix mobile games, unfortunately. Laya's Horizon looked really cool, but not available without Netflix. Same with World of Goo Mobile I believe

      • Good to see they are still on the Play Store. I either bought all thee games or they were proper free somewhere. Maybe the first was free and I bought the rest.

Monument Valley is a great puzzle game. If anyone gets stuck, take a break, come back and it will make more sense.

      • Thanks for the link, but that is for the original. Monument valley 3 is the one that's not available outside Netflix

        • +2

Same, I played Monument Valley 1 and 2 and absolutely loved it. Can’t believe I need to pay for Netflix to play part 3. The worst part is, I will need to keep the subscription active to replay it. I used to replay Monument Valley a lot. Simply picked my fav chapter and completed it. Super therapeutic.

        • +1

Hmm, yeah, unfortunately seems like Netflix paid them enough to force exclusivity… :(

  • What is this new thing "Netflix membership required" for a mobile game? I have never seen that before.

  • Is there a way to hide these kind of deals, if so could someone please show me. i respect that people enjoy seeing them just not for me

    • +1

Instructions can be found in this deal.

      • Okay great thank you.

      • I realize I already had this hidden and was still seeing it? Did you by any chance recently update the tags to include 'Streaming Service Addition'? Otherwise I may have a bug. Thanks

        • +1

I did. I didn't realise it was a tag until I actually read the method to hide these deals.
