I will stick to my NM790 for $255 thanks… unless you need PCIe 5 this is nuts pricing.

  • O.O

a beast, but boy is it expensive

btw, crucial has a $20 gift card by redemption promo https://crucialpromos.com.au/giveaway/ , not that it will make much difference to the price of this drive. but it drops the price on smaller drives

Don't forget, its sibling model, T705, is a bit faster, but obviously more expensive:

    Crucial T705 4TB - $749.00

This is a very high performing drive but based on the old Phison E26 controller, and as such has high power draw and heat generated. Newer high or almost as high performing PCIe 5 drives that use less power and run less hot are here and / or on the way.

So… why is this a deal?
Are there savings to be had?
Is this retailer pricing it lower than the competition?
Are there rebates available post purchase, making this a deal?

By not posting an actual deal, you reduce the efficacy of this site.

Regular pricing is around $700 for this new fandangled tech

    • There are not much 4TB Gen 5 around, and when there is one, the price are $800+.
I don't know what are you complaining about, but this is a deal right now.
Even though not a good one, I rather wait for gen5 price to go down.

Complaining? Then the the deal should state savings? Else it's as useful as quoting an exchange rate.

  • At almost $170 per TB, its a hard no from me especially when we're in the middle of "black Friday/Cyber Monday" sales… top tier Gen 4 drives are pretty close in performance, the extra nano-seconds this drive will save you will go unnoticed by 95% of the buyers…

we're in the middle of "black Friday/Cyber Monday" sales

It's hilarious the lengths hypercapitalism goes to with the sales now. Wasn't Black Friday a single day sale in the past? Now in the last couple of years it has become a pseudo sale, with companies frothing to jack prices and drop them for a full week, with no actual savings to be had. Plenty of plebs fall for it too.

      • 2025 will probably be Black Friday month… LOL

        • It is likely.
