Hope they perform as good as their ETFs 😂

  • Nice boots

  • These or RMs?

    • +1

Depends on style, but RM's are the better made boot.

      • +2

Go watch rose anvil on yt cut boots from both brands in half

        • +2

Rose Anvil's video is absolute subjective garbage - he's complaining about synthetics in the Comfort's which are designed to have synthetic insoles. You can't compare Classic to Craftsman directly and pretend that isn't their intention.

I'm a boot enthusiast and own/have owned plenty of brands including Vibergs, Thursday, RM Williams, Parkhurst, Grant Stone, Allen Edmonds etc.

For this price the Thursday's are decent but RM's are still far better boots.

          • @japes: and you can't compare classic to this price. These offer way better value

            • @truebunny:

For this price the Thursday's are decent but RM's are still far better boots.

      • +1

RM's are no longer better made. I do wish Thursday used veg-tanned leather though. I'm sticking to my Yanko boots.

        • Na, RM's are still better. Thursdays inhouse outsoles are hot garbage.

          • @japes: RMs are not bad boots. They are hot garbage at the price point (full price) these days unfortunately. Now they are approaching $700 they are competing in a higher echelon and some of the UK/US brands offer better quality around that price point construction wise. Still very hard to find a single piece of leather Chelsea so RMs will always have a market share.

@doctorbargain: Definitely not worth full price. Also definitely better than Thursdays.

          • @japes: Even the stormking outsole?

            • @ausdkunst: I haven't owned a pair with the Stormkings but if they're anything like their inhouse dainite's I'd avoid. Horrendous imitations.

Cool that they mention the tannage of the leather - very high quality and hard wearing stuff. Similar style to RM Williams 'Risden' boot. Ok, RM's are handmade in Australia which is a good thing and I'd hope the leather is decent (they only say 'Nubuck'…but at the price…hmm). However, I know for sure that Horween Chromexcel is a very good leather and these boots are less than half the price of the RM's! Sure, Gina is struggling and needs our $$$, but gee…that's a hell of a price difference.

Wonder if returns are as easy as they say.

Heard Thursday has very good customer support

      • The're, uh, well experienced. Not the best QA.

    • +5

RM Williams is owned by Twiggy not Gina I'm pretty sure

        Gina=Blundstone

Two shades of the same sheet, they cannot MAGA. Once gone, it is gone! It's now China era.

      • Right you are. Also Akubra…and Gina’s has Drizabone and others…what’s with the uber wealthy snapping up Australian fashion icons.

Not worth RRP (Get a pair of goodyear welted English boots on sale for that price), but at a discount these are a good deal vs other boots in this price range

    • +5

Per the above description these are Goodyear welted

      • He does not say they are not welted, says get a Solovair or MIE Dr Martens. Get Rivers GoodYear welted boots 1/4 price of these. https://www.rivers.com.au/search/?q=welted+boots&lang=en_AU

      • Per the above original comment, I don't believe I said these aren't goodyear welted, I said get a pair of goodyear welted ENGLISH boots instead if you're paying full price for these.

At $425, you can pick up a made in England pair of goodyear welted boots on sale that are much higher quality than Thursday Boots. Talking Loake 1880, Trickers etc.

At $290 this is a good deal, which is also what I said in my original comment.

I've got the Captain boots and for the price (got them on sale for less than $300) I'm pretty happy with them. Though I'd be hesitant to buy them unless you're absolutely sure on your sizing. Returns and exchanges might be tricky since they're US based.

    • How's your Captain boots? I heard Vanguard is better made since they make it in the US.

      • I got them 2 years ago and they've held up relatively well, but I wear them casually and to work. There's a guide on sizing on the website and they do half sizes as well so I was able to get a good fit.

There's a lot of posts on reddit from people posting how they've held up over time. IMO these are reasonable for the price.

If you're willing to spend more, I'd probably recommend get something like Red Wing boots. There's a few stockists in Australia so you might be able to try them on before buying.

  • I recently received a pair of Presidents. They looks great.

  • +2

Don’t do it. Worst company ever. Check their online reviews. They take a lifetime to come as well.

  • I get alot of Thursday Boots ads… always curious if they're any good.

Honestly I wear my RMs whenever I need to dress up a little, but in saying that I hardly have to.

  • The terracotta’s have been good, I’d do a full size down from sneakers

    • Have you got thin feet? These should be spot on Brannock sizing for most people.

      • They say to size half down for it to break in and stretch but I found still a bit of a gap

  • Does anyone know a good place in Sydney that can clean/restore leather boots?

    • Try Kieran The Cobbler. Not in Sydney but you can post.

  • I was going to pull the trigger on Thursdays a few months back, but instead I went and spent an extra $160 and got a pair of Parkhurst Richmonds (seconds) in Waxy Commander delivered to Oz. I am seeing some Redditors commenting on the Thursdays QC issues, but I can't really comment on these first hand. I will say though that I am loving my Parkhurst boots!!! Worn them in and love wearing them straight out. They are seconds, however - I could not see anything seconds about them.

    • +1

Good choice, Parkhurst are a solid tier above Thursday.

  • I've had a pair of these & a pair of 'Scouts' in cognac suede for 6 years. Both holding up well. The Scouts were replaced after 1 year for free because some of the sole tore off - I can't complain about that as I didn't know how to look after Suede & they were cooked! I've been happy with the silhouette & quality.
