Where Would You Buy Cabling, Plugs and Sockets That Is Not Bunnings?

Am after some heavier duty electrical cable, some plugs and sockets. Am not a fan of Bunnings- too much cheap and nasty dross to sort through there.

Where else (Sydney or online) would be recommended that does small retail volumes and is not trade-only?

Jaycar has everything. Some stores have parcel lockers outside to pick up at your convenience.

    • 100% agree … Jaycar is my go-to for things like that.

      other option is Altronics.
but Jaycar == 1st port of call.

Depends what you are trying to do and what sort of cabling, plugs and sockets you are after. Jaycar has a pretty good selection (but can be costly), but otherwise various places online like Sparky Direct.

I've found Bunnings pricing to be expensive, so gone elsewhere.

  • are you talking 240v items or ELV items?

If its 240v, well, i'd hope you're qualified enough that you can identify the suitable quality gear in bunnings, but plenty of places like tradezone dont require any 'proof' that you're qualified

for ELV, as above jaycar would be an easy 'store front' option, but if you want online suggestions you'd likely need to be more specific on the items you're chasing.

  • To access a wider range of quality brands: Haymans or Sparky Direct

  • Jaycar/Altronics has stock that you can physically browse in store, select what you want, hand over your money and take it home that day. You'll pay more for this convenience and are better off looking at other options if you know what you want or don't mind waiting for an online order.

If you’re in Sydney, try TLE Electrical - https://tle.mmem.com.au/stores/

Beacon Lighting also sell some associated items like switches, wall plates, power points, extension cables etc
