That’s a good freebie. One just wonders how long it’ll be available for until the arrangement ends and you lose your profile/data.

One just wonders how long it’ll be available for until the arrangement ends and you lose your profile/data.

Why would this matter? It's not like there is a story mode or something.

When it eventually leaves Netflix, you can no longer play it?

Or once it's installed it's there for the device?

      • +1

        It'll be gone.

    • +1

The existing Civilisation VI games support cross platform cloud saves (with a 2K account), so presumably that should work.

    • +1

Yeah, (profanity) even trying this. Last thing I want is another ''liscenced product' that isnt

    • What does the arrangement have to do with anything? It's a regular APK with local save files, isn't it?

      • Maybe for Android. Once it's gone from the iOS App store thats it.

        • Ah I see, thanks.

If only this was the desktop version :C
Anyway great deal and great game alike. Would highly reccomend giving it a go even if it does take an awful amount of storage. Personally enjoyed it alot on Desktop so glad to see we can play on our phones too.

    Not PC version.

I got all excited about getting this awesome Platinum pack, and then realised it's only on iOS/Android :(.

Do you guys not have phones?

      • +8

Yes, but we also have large monitors and decent gaming PCs that will make the game much more enjoyable and easier to control.

Playing a game on a phone is like watching a movie on a phone. Something you may do when travelling, while there are no other options, but a poor choice otherwise.

        • Whoosh.

It's a joke about Diablo mobile

          • +2

            @FullPelt: There’s a Diablo mobile? Sounds terrible.

            • @axyh: Unless you have money to burn lol

      • Booooo!!!

    • +1

Civ actually suits mobile imo. Would be nice if all platforms could sync saves so you can play on your PC, then continue on your phone at work.

Surely this is hard/difficult to play on a phone…

    • +2

It was originally designed as a tablet game, and phone support was added later.
It's great on long haul flights.

Works a treat for me when I want to play mobile games on pc

There should also now be iPhone Mirroring for iPhone and Mac users, if you want that instead.

  • Anyone have experience with this game on a phone or tablet? I have only ever played them on a desktop. I guess being turn based and strategy, they are probably not terrible on a phone but the size of the screen may make things a bit small.

    • I’ve played a ton of Civ 6 on my iPad. It’s slower than desktop, bit clunkier but get used to it. I can’t tell from the description if this is a new optimized version or just the base + expansions bundled up.

    • Played this game on ipad 6. Very laggy.
Played it on ipad pro 13 m4 and ipad air m2.
Devices gets really hot. The game randomly crashes as well.
Had trouble with multiplayer between 2 devices. But works fine on solo play.

This might pull me back to Netflix subscription lol, I struggle to find anything I like so stopped my sub recently. But since I was a big fan of the pc game and spent/wasted zillion hours of my life on the game, Im interested to try the phone version. I wonder if it's still as enjoyable on a smaller screen

    • It’s can be had on fanatical etc for about the price of a single month of Netflix given that VII is out next year sometime

    • Just buy the game, its only going to be a few months subscription and you get to keep it…

It's a bad idea to Netflix.

As soon as people start Civilization VI, no time for Netflix.

    • +7

lol, I don't think they care what you are doing.. as long as you keep paying their subscription :)

    • Netflix only cares if people keep using it, and they only care about that because they need to pay to use it. Look at all the terrible movies and series Netflix makes, they don't care because for some reason people will watch it anyway. So addicting to people to games through their subscription is smart.

  • Would this work on Nvidia shield?

  • December 5th release in case anyone is wondering

    • That is American time/date. For Australia, the Apple app store list it as 6 December.

  • Netflix is giving their subscribers one more turn, for free, to manage their civilization, with the Platinum edition of the game.

What? Do you get special cheats for getting this version through Netflix?
