[PS4, PS5, XB1, XSX] Destiny - The Collection $29.95 @ PlayStation & Xbox Store

110

I've been watching this for a while and it's only been on sale twice since 2017 from the usual $89.95 price. Great game and plenty of content for $29.95.

Every time I've tried to go back and play Destiny (which I have fond memories of), it becomes a huge point of confusion of which expansions I have/need and what my friends have/need across different platforms/subscriptions.

At that point, it just gets too hard and we do something else.

Exactly the same experience. First go round I had an absolute blast, but it feels nearly impossible to pick back up again.

For anyone interested, please be aware that this is the original Destiny from 2014 and is no longer being developed. There are still plenty of players and servers are maintained but nothing new will be released.

  • Well at least you don't have to worry about cut content :D

  • Is it worth diving in for some causal play?

      No. It's a 10 year old game.

You can get the Destiny 2 Legacy collection for half that, at $15.74:

And I think you get more for it, plus it's an active game with more players and it's still being developed and supported.

If you are on Xbox, you don't even need Xbox Live subscription (or whatever it is called now) for Destiny 2 whereas you'll still need a subscription for Destiny 1. (On PlayStation, you'll need PS+ sub to play D1 and D2).

Did not know that. I don't bother with Gold or Plus and haven't in forever, only thing I play online is Fortnite…might check out D2 since it's F2P and doesn't need Gold now. Cheers!

Played the D1 beta in the day and never got into it. Got a mate who loves both to death so I might throw him a bone.

        • Yes, ask for his opinion! Destiny is a bit of a slog if solo.

      • You can do the single player of D1 without a live subscription. And given that they asked about casual play i cant imagine they were thinking raids anyway. Thus at most they wont be able to do the strikes.

    • Counter point to GreenLEgo about D2 instead. It is cheaper and far more active, but its new player onboarding is the worst and jumping in now is only for the shooting as everything else will just be "wtf" for a newbie. Landing in the story some seven years (and thus almost that many expansions) late, to a game overflowing with nonsense to figure out.
But if you just wanna play a sci-fi action 'RPG' with great shooting, semi decent story and top tier vibes. Go for D1.

  • Is there a single player campaign? The expansions as well, are worth it for single player content? I don’t have psplus.

    • Yeah, I really enjoyed it. It is a DRM based game but you don't need PS Plus to play the campaign.
