Anyone know how much better this is over a v10? Our v10 is showing its age despite getting the dyson premium service earlier this year.

They have disabled the cell balancing in your battery (which should give them A HUGE fine by the ACCC). One of your cells are bringing the others down.
Our of all the "Dead Dyson" batteries I've pulled apart…none of them are dead..just out of balance. Once balanced..like new.
Summary, buy something else.

Implemented, but purposely not connected. Guaranteed premature obselesense.
For use in a Dyson… reasonably difficult. Just buy a drill adapter or BMS from Ali Express. Don't support Dyson.
For using the cells in anything else…very easy…smash it open..charge them up.
@cooni: It's encased in resin/ silicone….
So you ditch the Dyson rubbish, install a Ali Express one (sadly better), and reconnect to your old batteries…which are perfectly fine.

I'm torn between a bagged vacum like a Miele for the suction. With kids and dog and cat in worried this might not be enough. How have you found it?
So we have 14 cats INDOORS at the moment, it's a whole situation, don't ask. The little bit of carpet we have to deal with is low-pile but I only vac that small hallway once a week. I'd says it's around 2m square surface area so not large at all, also not square. Takes all but 2 - 4 minutes to get it back to new lookin' carpet on Eco mode (atleast for a v15). :-)
I am genuinely amazed how well they work. I came from a Viomi A9 that didn't last 6 months so I bit the bullet on something with warranty and genuinely works well. Bit upset I only got it 1 - 2 months ago, paid more than this gen5.. 😪

Some say the v15 does the same job, if not better.
You just get some extra featutes. Even the extra suction doesn't make a difference between the two.
The suction is the same with motorised heads attached. The suction is only higher with non-motorised tools. Limiting factor is that if the Gen5 used its full suction with the floor head, it would clamp to the floor and the Digital Motorbar head’s motor wouldn’t be able to spin the brushbar

Is this on a clean floor? 😅 My v15 with the same digi-motorbar stops aswell, can't remember if it was on auto or boost. That was first day, out of the box with heavily furred carpet in that low-pile section I mentioned previously. Had to google to realise it was a common issue.. 😅
@WasBargain: This is on any carpet with boost mode and the Motorbar red gate switch set to + (or middle setting in higher pile carpet).
They’ve used the same motor and basic design in that head since the V11 (anti tangle design tweak aside). Wouldn’t be shocked if the next version has a new head design to support higher suction and thicker carpets
Highly recommended at this price. Also you can use some older Dyson attachments on it.
We have hardwood floors and a dog, the green light is really handy and we find the house significantly less dusty. Also does a good job on carpets compared to our v8.
The dust particle sensor is a bit of a gimmick though.

Good suction on highest setting, low and medium were fine too but I like it on the highest setting. The feeling that it is "getting everything". Led light at the head is great to see missing dirt/dust patches and also the most noticeable thing is that the head is very manoeuvrable when you twist your wrist slightlyJust a little twist and the vacuum head can turn up to 90 degrees.

Good deal! Looks like this is the model with the purple stick - the stick seperates to reveal a shorter crevice tool. This is so convenient when vacuuming, The gen5 model with gold stick does not separate.
Was hoping the Complete version would go on sale on eBay, the stand and extra attachments are great.
