  • How is this compared to other decks?

When I did my research I was after bigger screen. My BIL has a Steam Deck OLED and after trying his and getting mine, I believe I made the right choice. Screen is definitely more immersive.

I have Steam, D4 through battlenet and also game pass running so I've found myself gaming on this device more than my PC to the point I sold it.

Only considerations I see people needing to have.

      • might not be good if you have small hands
      • speakers are average
      • battery life isn't the greatest
      • Try GeForce NOW. It’s a game changer particularly on that big display at the higher res. No other handheld matches the experience.

      • How many hours of battery life do you average?

    • +1

Owned mine for almost a year now. Once you go big, you can't go back haha!

Besides that, if you don't mind tinkering with software/OS's, have a use case for Windows in tablet form and keep expectations low (it's still just an APU so think indie games/Sims/well optimised games or frame regen handicapped games) - it's a winner.

      • Agreed. Once I went 34 inch ultrawide, there's no going back.

      Compared to a steamdeck:

      pros:
      - larger display (8.8", vs 7" on steamdeck, or 7.4" on oled steamdeck)
      - higher refresh rate (144hz vs 60hz on steamdeck or 90hz on oled steamdeck)
      - high resolution (2560x1600 vs 1200x800 on steamdeck)
      - detachable controllers
      - inbuilt kickstand
      - better performance

      cons:
      - not oled (though screen is still nice)
      - physically larger than steamdeck
      - weighs more than a steamdeck (about 200g more depending on lcd/oled steamdeck)
      - legion go has a bigger battery but because of windows it doesn't last as long

So for $100 more than a 512GB oled steamdeck, its going to depend on what you want out of a device really.

      • I'd add a con is the go does not have VRR / freesync on that lovely 144hz display

        • Is it noticeably tho? I’m asking as I’ve never seen a ROG Ally / X or a LGo in person as no one on the Gold Coast has them on display

Centre Com activated a number of Lenovo discounts this afternoon and none of them matched Lenovo's own discounts

So just wait for the real deal and stack a cashback like the ATL

And hello to the Centre Com marketing team lurking on OzBargain

Hands down best reviewer of handhelds if you plan on doing emulation.

Nice price. I had to stack a bunch of deals at JB to get to around 1100. No regrets though. I use it as part tablet, part laptop, part Nintendo switch.
If you don't mind it being a bit fat and heavy and tweaking windows and stuff its great. To me, detachable joycons and the larger screen where the outstanding features.

  • Looks like time to retire my switch then.

So tempting but I know that the 15% boost in the next 6 months is worth the wait.

    • +1

There will always be an upgraded version of anything right around the corner. Keep in mind you’ll be paying $500 more. Legion Go as is is really good.

      • +1

That is true but all these devices are gen1 products and the leap to gen2 is always the largest. If you can, wait and let anybody else be beta testers. It's not so much the z2 chip, but everything else that gets little tweaks and upgrades.

  • Whats with the Stargate?

  • As someone with both this and the oled SD. I still prefer going back to the LeGo to game on. The bigger screen just rocks! And the power of the z1e chip gives it a better edge compared to the custom apu of the SD.

However if you’re after battery life and don’t require as much power as the Z1e then the SD OLED is better.

  • Battery is my only issue but if you have heaps of powerpoints around your home, it shouldn’t be an issue

    • How long would you get out of playing Fortnite on it?

  • Is this a good option to play offline games? I travel a lot and the Nintendo switch does perform well playing the games I play on my Xbox.

    • +1

      yes and no…

battery life is probably only 1.5h in performance mode. switch has better battery life to play on a plane for example. legion go is probably more for "couch gaming" where you can easily find a charger after each gaming sessions.

some pc games will still require random online checks. i once tried to play Persona 5 without internet and was not able to start the game cause Denuvo DRM just decided to check for DRM while i was offline.

non-Denuvo DRMs are okay as they are usually not as random.

if you like playing indie 2D games, you can go into power saving mode and can last longer into the 2h mark.

my opinions may not be valid though as last time i was flying to japan, i brought the Switch OLED but ended up playing my Miyoo Mini Plus on the plane.

  • If you use speakers, these have some of the worst my ears have ever had the misfortune of hearing. Everything else is spectacular. Unfortunate.

  • Legion Go pretty much stomps all over the Steam Deck, Zen 2 is no match for Zen 4 lol

  • oos already
